Just to play devils advocate Mcnab says he had four minimis and 4 m16s/M203s. consider the fact that the average standing or a small fighting patrol of 8 men normally has 2 LSWs or minimis. When you have four all going down at once it does not surprise that he has that much firepower. plus the M16s of course and any M203s etc

I would say that his section could well have put down that much firepower. the question is though how many did they hit? its all very well blatting off a million rounds but if they miss they become a waste of time to carry

I think the tactic of offense as defence used by most of these units is summarised by that bloke from dads army

The trick is in an ambush to do EXACTLY what the enemy least expects.

In one ambush I was involved in I immediatly and unexpectedly metomorphosized myself into a bowl of petunias. I lived in the area for a number of years before returning back to normal, completely unscathed.

Don't take much notice about the Ryan/McNab Kills. Michael Asher (The Real B20) and Peter Radcliffe (The Eye of The Storm) claim that some of the Patrol's exploits were exagerated. Radcliffe was the 22 SAS's RSM at the time and a while after. It has been stated in both books that at their debriefing Ryan and McNab never even mentioned a lot of the adventures that are in their books.

I remember reading of an account of 4 members of 22 SAS during the Falklands war......they defended a ridge (think it was on Mt Tumbledown)
All they had was x2 81mm, a Milan post, x2 GPMG's & their SLR's. Intel intercepted the Argentine contact report saying that they were being attacked by an Infantry company.

Someone once said that it's better to send 10 Lions into battle than to send 100 sheep>>>>Maybe it's true.
