POC 17th May + Illness before medical
Anyone else going down for there POC on the 17th. I'm kacking my pants already. The thing is, I'm quite young - only 17 - so that doesn't help but also the past 3 weeks i have had some 'lower abdomen' problems and i haven't been able to train quite a s hard as i hoped. I mean, i haven't been doing as many sit-ups because i want to let my tum sort itself out. Also it hurts on runs sometimes... Anyone got any advice as i have my medical soon and i don't want to put them off me.
Thank you,
Luke
Thank you,

What kind of pain is it and when does it hurt? Does it hurt to touch? Has the pain been getting worse? Do you have a small lump or protrusion in your lower abdomen?

it's sort of a dull pain. it comes and goes, it doesn't hurt to touch and i can't feel anything abnormal. it's mainly just a pain in the arse. i'm not worried about what it is, just that it is stopping me from training as hard as i really think i should be doing. i have spoken to a doctor and i'm getting a blood test but that is the day before my POC medical! what will i tell them?!!
thanks.
thanks.

If you first noticed it when you were exercising, it's probably a pulled muscle. Have seen your GP yet or did they do a phone consult? If the GP hasn't examined you, just tell them exactly what you have told us.
If you think that it will hold you back on your POC then just take the next one. It's not the end of the world. If in doubt - don't risk the opportunity.
Just my 2c.

It could be any number of things and it would certainly pay to get it checked out by a professional having told the wole story to him/her.bassboyluke wrote:i have had some 'lower abdomen' problems and i haven't been able to train quite a s hard as i hoped.
It might be something as simple as a pulled muscle as previously mentioned, or it could be something that needs some attention. Better to know sooner than later.
Other possibilities include irritable bowel syndrome, an ulcer, a minor hernia, or even a blockage of some sort (hmmm, all of which, come to think of it, I have had at one time or another).
Best advice I could give is go to the doc and get it sorted. Like BenW said, you can always take the next POC...not the end of the world.

i'm hoping i'm fit enough, i do a lot of rowing and i reckon fitness wise i was best a few weeks ago, but this sudden 'problem' has caused a bit of trouble for my training. i'm going to do maths a bristol. i doubt that'll be much use in the marines... counting pints maybe... and press-ups. i am sh*ting myself
(from nerves) but i imagine that is natural. looks like i'll be seeing you two weeks today! :fadein: blood test back on wednesday, it better be nothing bad cos i will cry if my POC gets postponed...
