There's always the Foreign Legion. If the AFCO says you're boned for 5yrs and you're worried you won't resist becoming the local 'distributer' in that time, then you could give the legion a crack.
You're a lucky sonofabitch to poke a guy in the chest and not get attempted murder, by the way, but then I suppose you know that.
My dumb ass is in the dock next month an' all, so I'm getting concerned about this waiting lark too. Hey-ho.
Keep grinning!

Now i have been really trying to hold this back but you have to hopes of getting in and ones dead. You obviously have no self control, whats to say you dont flip out on some one during your basic. I realise your wanting to change but you have to remember this will be how people at the AFCO may be thinking
Listen in men give 100% or i will thrash you till your eyes bleed!

God is airborne because he failed his commando course!

I'd just say move away from where you live now, as some of the lads suggested may the legion, you'll find if you move somewhere new and start afresh without the image you're trying to drop then you'll be a lot better of than staying where everyone knows you, get ya self a half decent job and stick at it, if ya still want the marines after the five years go for it, but I will tell you this from experience it's hard to leave behind your past when it's all around you.

Future,

I havent been in any bother myself but my Uncle has, he went to Borstal and has been in the nick a few times and general trouble (from theft to abh, affray etc), and a convicted football holigan (leeds united aye) He is now 40 and has tried his hardest to turn his life around, and on the whole has.

My advice is (if you choose to take it) try and move away from Bristol, if you dont you will get a little numpty trying to have a go on a friday night to try and prove themselves. My uncle still gets it now, but then again he has never moved away from Leeds/Harrogate area.

Good Luck, hope you get sorted. If you do change for the good you will suddenly get a bit more respect from everyone (friends, family etc)

Let us know how you get on.

There was a guy local to me who was a "psycho", he would literally start on everyone at any time, wherever, no matter how many people he would have to face.

His best mates and hi family only hung around him becosue they were scared to upset him (even his own mother).

Anyway he left town, much to everyones relief to join the Paras. Some how he got in and I hoped that that would be the last We'd see of him.

Still, he came back on leave four years later and hes COMPLETLEY different. Hes calm, he has a decent girlfreind, he wasnt with his old mates, he dressed pretty smartly as well and he was even polite to people. Apparantly it really has changed him and hes a good bloke.
I have no idea what rank he is but the military life has obviously brought him to his senses and given him a load of respect from a whole town. (and not just his cronie mates)

Its the way forward Future. You just have to keep your head up out of the shit and dont look back.

The Marines will have access to your entire hsitory, so what they wanna know, they will. You're training team will know personal history also, so even if you do get in. It may be harder for you than most as they will know you're history and might give you some extra stick for it. I guess a lot is luck of the draw. But stabbing someone in the chest is serious, whilst the conviction is GBH the case is serious. I would have to say, knowing what I do from the forum, which is very limited, it was an absoloutely idiotic uncalled for thing to do. I hope you matured inside & changed. Best of luck anyway. The FrenchForeign Legion is a definate alternative, they only recruited criminals at one time & foreigners (as the name suggests). I saw a programme on their training though, tough is not the word.

Sounds good. Though you don't really need to be doing fifteen miles a day. Five, six maximum, every other day is good. Of course you can vary that; some days you could use the fartlek method, other days you could just go all out. Running too great a distance too often will cause injury.

How's your training going Ashley?

Do you feel fully prepared for your PRMC?

Ha ha! Well, he may as well have claimed he cartwheels on the moon! There are probably people out there who can run 15 miles a day but my eyebrows came fairly flying off my face when I read that!

There have been many times where I have come to doubt some of the stuff posted on this site, however I think we should all try and give people the benefit of the doubt.

If somebody is lying then they are only cheating themselves, simple as that.

So many of the tips on here have helped me personally, and I think it's best to just try offer advice and encouragement, rather than questioning individual ability.
