SUSAT

Post by The JaCkAl »

I was searching for SUSAT info on the net as it appears that knowing about this scope and it's magnification etc is required and came across:

http://royalmarines.mine.nu/susat/susat.php

My AFCO says you may get asked about it in the PRMC interview. I can't imagine many people turning up for PRMC knowing about this....but it all helps hey....

I read this which unless you eat your scope then....well read it yourself

The knob on the right side is the Tritium brightness adjustment. The Tritium gas inside the tube glows illuminate the pointer (crosshairs) during low light condition.

Tritium Warning

Tritium is an isotope of hydrogen which has one proton and two neutrons . It emits beta particles only and has a half-life of 12.3 years. The maximum beta energy is 18 keV, and the mean beta energy is 6 keV. A beta particle with energy of less than 70 keV will not penetrate the dead outer layer of the skin. Therefore, tritium is not an external radiation hazard , but when taken into the body it becomes an internal hazard.

All you need to know is x4 magnification, 100-600m,
susat = sight unit small arms trilux
and say 'the pointer thing glows in the dark'

when you get to training you have to memorise the trilux safety rules but that is surprisingly easy when your in three ranks in front of the tank, you suddenly get a memory jolt!

thought it was 300m to 800m

Haha :D ! Fisher is brilliant, hes so funny, he marches (spelling) like a supermodel on the cat walk, and the DL makes us about turn on the parade ground to watch him march. DL: "And here we have Fisher modelling the half luvets! Fisher loves the tank!", I dont think I've ever laughed so hard in my life, and the whole grave digger thing aswell... . How are you enjoying easter leave fodd?
