And I ain't got near em. Back squaded, If injury happens again I'll bin it.

You'll crack the bleep test when fit.

The press-ups for females aren't the full ones, find yourselves a circuit class at the local gym and pop up twice a week or so plus a few hours running.

You'll be flying along in no time.

Wouldn't worry too much, give it some time then start doing bicep curl etc with weights.

When I started training at aorund 15/16 I could run around 1.5 mile and that was that.

Now I run 1.6 miles!

In all seriousness I wouldnt' worry too much at start of training, just keep training and putting in the effort and you'll see results, don't overdo it either - nothing worse than doing really well then getting stupid injury through over training or pushing too much.

Hi there, i would be grateful if anybody could point out what is required of you fitness wise for recruit training for airmen/women at RAF Halton. I have the fit for action leaflet and can do what is asked of me there. Is there anything else that i need to practice/train myself up for e.g. any pull ups or rope climbs.I am a 23yr old male, I can run 1.5 miles in 9 minutes 50 seconds and i go to circuit training 3-4 times per week. Also does anyone know how far you would have to swim to be classed as "water confident".

I know this may come as a bit of a shock, but Crabs don't swim, they scuttle about sideways on the sandy bottom.

Try 25 metres, and then do it again in a shirt and trousers. Should be enough, oh and tread water for 2 minutes. Usual sort of levels.

Anybody happen to know the RAF bft requirements for the over thirties ?, i know the over 40's dont do the bleep anymore and just ride a bike, but do the goal posts move once you hit the big 3 O?

It got even easier after the big 3-0 (at least it did a few years back, if my failing memory serves). The bleep test was brought in a year or two before I left and I only know of a few people who failed it. Most of us wanted to carry on to see how far we could go but because there were so many people to get through the tests the PTI's wouldn't have it.

I did hear that there were a few old gimmers who the tests caught just prior to them dropping over with heart attacks.

Fit to fight ? I'm a pacifist

The figures you quote are for the ranks, it is different for the officers :

Male :
17 - 24 = 10.6 Bleep test
25 - 29 = 10.2 Bleep test
30 - 34 = 9.8 Bleep Test
35 - 39 = 9.4 Bleep Test

Having done a bleep test, I can tell you it is not as easy as what you might think your lungs crave air by about level 7 !.

Also, on IOT a 3 mile run has to be completed in 21 minutes, thats 7 minutes a mile which is some going !.
Keep trying & don't fall at the first hurdle !

the 10.6 score which you describe is considered 'excellent' at OASC however you only need 8.6 to pass.
