NO PAIN NO GAIN

Have you read El Prez's post about legibilty?
I got bored before I got past the second line of yours. Therefore, I haven't got a clue as to what you are talking about.
Either grow up, or go to school and learn how to write.

I wouldnt of thought so, that is if they have cleared up now. I'd just like to mention that this is the RM part of the site not the Army.

If you turn up to either the RM or the Army complaining of shinsplints, you will be scrutinised heavily.

If you have seen a podiatrist or a good sports physio, and taken their advice seriously, then you may be able to declare it. I only say this from experience. I declared a history of lower-leg injuries in my initial medical at RMAS. It made my life a lot easier over the coming weeks when everybody started to pick up injuries.

Sorbothanes only reduce the shock. Shinsplints are casued by the uncontrolled motion of your foot as it hits the ground, and as you toe off again. Fallen arches also contribute to it. A supportive "orthotic" insole such as Superfeet (from a GOOD sports shop) will alleviate some of the motion issues. Good trainers such as New Balance 854s will also help. I ended up paying many £100s for cutom-made insoles and for physio.

Get used to stretching every morning, and before/after any running. Take your shoes off, and sit on your feet, with your legs tucked underneath you like an Arab. And just hold it, no matter how uncomfortable. Then stretch BOTH the upper and lower section of your calf muscles by trying to push a wall down.

Get used to hearing "three days of Light Duties and take these ibuprofen"...

I keep on hearing this 'light duties' thing - what does that entail ?

The pain has pretty much gone now - although it comes back on a 4/5 miler, but only on road runs - its fine on treaders. Defiantely gonna invest in a pair of sorbawotsits.
