Advice for an old fella!!!

Post by neb_1010 »

Now then,

Compared to most of you lot I am old!! 27 to be precise, but don't let that fool you cos I'm just as stupid and irresponsible as I was when I was 18! I am also fitter than you average NOD as I am a triathlete. The advice I need is similar to anothe post that has recently been answered. It's about sticking in a mundane office job with good money or going for it and joining the pride of the forces. Do you think I'm too old to join? I know the physical side won't be a problem (he says!!!) but worried about the age gap really. I have got a degree in design and would like to go for illustrator corps, this would maybe suit me. I really want the lifestyle, I am constantly reading about it and watching all I can. So any advice guys, I was supposed to have my PRMC last month but had to cancel due to work. Do you think I should just go for it? Even at my age!!!
Cheers

Why dont you go in as an officer? You have a degree and you must be very fit as a triathlete. Definately go for it! You may look back in a few years time when you are too old and regret missing out on such an opportunity.

go for it or you will regret it.

With your degree you could be an Officer. (just found out max age is 25 after this post  )

what harm is there in trying? what is there to lose??

cheers guys for the encouragement. I'm too old to join as an officer!! it's 25. Anyway I just want to get stuck in as a NOD. The rrecruitment bloke said I may get a commission, but we'll just have to see what happens. I'll decide then, don't want to think about it. Have just applied for another PRMC date, hopefully I can get one soon. Fingers crossed. bring it on!!!

Mate im 23, have had over 5 jobs since i was 19 - one of which was very well paid (in my books anyway) - im trying to join. Money wont buy happiness, and if your good at the job money will come in the marines - go for it !
