Noel Murphy captain of the Irish rugby team back in the 60s was giving the team talk.Look lads he says dem snobby sasanachs just think we are a gang of muck savages who are just going to come out kicking, biting and gouging well says he let's not disappoint them.

What about the Civil War, eh? That was pretty revolutionary. I heard that's the reason the army's called the British Army and not the Royal Army, because they sided with Cromwell.

It will be interesting to see how many ''rugby fans'' lose interest now...

Hopefully all those 'lifelong rugby fans' that have appeared since the world cup win will decide to go back to football now.

If that happens then the Irish will have done us a massive favour - wouldn't that be a turn up for the books.

I was coming back from London on Saturday night. As I was approaching the train that we were about to get on, a few obviously verry happy Irish fans, dressed in the usual gear, shouted to us, " We beat the World Champions!!" It did seem a bit pointless to point out that England were STILL the world champions!

Correct SB, England are still the world champions.

But is it not also correct to say that Ireland did beat them!

Nurse is definitely going shopping that day! Once I've had my prematch fish finger sandwiches, half gallon of tea, and embrocation with a tea cake or two.
