I'm surprised to hear that you shouldn't use them in Norway (although it does make sense) as in Nigel Foster's book
The Making of a Royal Marine Commando he says that men in Norway shave with battery powered razors to prevent cuts & scratches that would take a long time to heal in that environment.
Just goes to show that you shouldn't believe everything you read!

I can certainly understand the point about the noise they make & the fact that they do not shave as well as a wet razor.
Also, spot on about using shaving oil in the field. Much easier and it seems to act as a sort of moisturiser as well.
