Bleeping tests

Post by Notmorerunning »

Just started training for the Gunner physical tests and am hoping ye can answer a few questions for me:

What exactly is a bleep test?
The army now allows recruits that have had Lasik or PRK eyesurgery, Is it the same for RAF Gunners?
Saw someone mention they needed to be at least 10 stone, is that true? at only 8.5 stone I find it very difficult to put on weight.

3 miles in 24 minutes, damn, I taught it was 1.5 in 14 mins, cant they just fly us around in those nice shiny helicopters

a bleep test is basically a stamina test. You start running at level 1 and it goes all the way to twenty. There are roughly 10 25m lengths for each level and they increase in speed as the level increases, level 10 is considered good and level 11/12 is excellent. Your weight isnt a problem at 8.5 stones so long as you are short! It is looked at against your height and you havr to fall in to the 'ok' band on the graph. If you dont then you will be told to either put on or lose weight. This measurement is regardless of your build etc.
Eat pie and fly - That's the multi-engined way
