Say they were to find something in my system; is that an automatic bar to joining the forces or does it depend on the substance they find? I intend to tell them straight up before they take the test anyway.

And as for Mr.Amsterdam: maybe you're in the wrong place for a person who's awaiting his Basic Trainig date? :D

What did u undergo selection for if i may ask?

So long as you no longer take any drugs (and assuming you have no drug convictions) then there's no need to mention it, there's such a thing as being too honest sometimes.

Everyone makes mistakes in life but if you've got yourself straight and have changed your life for the better then there's no point in potentially messing up your future for something that is in the past.

Person at work had a little of the green stuff. He got the tin-tat. Heard it is in the system for about a month.

Don’t do the Shi*, if you are serious about joining you are not being to clever. Had a few do it in my Platoon, I never trusted them after that or respected them.

Why would you want to know? :o
Cannabis can be detected in your system for up to six months.
Cocaine is another matter as it is usually out of the system within 12 to 24 hours.
Just grab a beer and a hooker,
much safer(Well the first one) :P

I know im going to probably spark off a debate here but no doubt the majority of you drink Yes ? well what do you think that is . Just because its legal doesn't make it safe ...infact alcohol kills the most people and creates the most problems out of all drugs.
So before saying you have no respect for people who take drugs think about what your taking on a friday night out round town, and in reply to your question.... cocaine is in and out of your system within a matter of days so don't bother mentioning it.

It's fairly widely accepted these days that if you went to uni, you may well have come into contact with drugs. I held my hands up at my interview and told them that I'd had the odd joint at a party while I was a student. That's all it was though, and I'd probably had a grand total of about 4 in the whole 4 years. I understand and agree with the whole zero tolerance policy in the military.

Personal experience, my best friend from the age of 5 is in a persistent vegetative state in a nursing home, and has been for 11 years now, because of heroin. Only took 2 years from her first joint to reach that consequence. It's easy for you guys to say "I can handle it, that would never happen to me", but you are not in control when you take this stuff.
If you want to join the military, and you are currently taking anything illegal, stop NOW. If you've ever taken LSD, do not join up at all.
You can have peace.
Or you can have freedom.
Don't ever count on having both at once.

I dont think the effects of lsd ever go away no matter when you take it and how old you get you can still be affected with hallucinations/nightmares etc.

One guy had a flashback 10 years after he'd last taken LSD, thought he saw a two-headed dragon so he killed it. Unfortunately he'd been making himself a sandwich at the time, so what he actually did was cut off his wife's head with a bread knife.

Milleredgeside, if you are even considering joining up and still planning to do coke at the weekends, then don't bother. I don't want to have to serve alongside idiots like you. You make me so angry I can't even find the words. Go waste your life somewhere else.
