I also noted freestyler that it depends if your tired you train...........mate...........come on..........Thats the best time to train and to push yourself mentally when your f@#k is awsome...........do a full day at the office and go for a 8 mile run that will put you in good mind set for training.....after your run do a light circuit...train your mind to be a Commando...No one said it was going to be easy.... but mate...........give yourself half a chance............
Good luck mate I wish you well.....

ok 2 things.
1st: Ta for the tips and hints. My really hard preparations wont kick in till im in the 13st brackett. I already got the PRMC fitness plan stuck up on me wall.
2nd:The treadmill time. It was 8.36 for 1.5 miles. I THOUGHT id put it on 9.7/8- but that was one of the speeds i was testing it on. (what i did was run 1/2 mile on speed x then times by 3. Then allow for slight fatigueing)
When i had done me warm up- i reset the machine and ran the belt upto about 10.4/5- i cant remember properly. All i remember is that it had 1.5 miles and 8:36 next to it-ill try it again tomoz to make sure-and yes-the treadmill is in miles

Bloody Arse!
I must agree with you, robj. Running too much for too long can really screw your joints up especially if you are carrying a bit of weight.robj wrote:Start with shorter distances and slowly build up. Its far better in the long run (no pun intended).
Even more so if you are running on the roads. Your ankles, knees etc take a real pounding.

Yeh fine no probs...but the point I am making is that you must put the miles in...however you do it...robj wrote:sorry but I dont agree with the 5/6/7 milers if you have just started running.

That has been said time and time again because its important
You will in your first 15 weeks be running between 4 and 9 miles in training with weight..after that its up to half marathon with and without weight....and a 30 miler over Dartmoor in Test week!!!!!!!!!!

Yes shin splints is an issue but dont mentally use it as an excuse or it will be there for you to use if pain sets in because your mind will block at this barrier and it wont fight a pain barrier...Ifyou want to be a Commando it will be uncomfortable most of the time...your body has to do things that to any normal civvy are superhuman and impossible....I am not trying to be an arsehole just tell you how it is because it will be a shock for you...your mind and your body..but the best way I suppose is for you to find out...freestyler_onli wrote:Id heard that. Yup i know exactly what your saying. I know the exact frame of mind you have to be in. If you cant do something- your bottling out. If you cant carry on-its because your giving up-you gotta put that aside and carry on.
As for shin splints- i meant id heard people mention them-but as long as i keep to me nike airs with the cushiony bit-then i should be ok-i just gotta push through the barriers i reach!
