Being a Firefighter

Post by Nemo »

I'm currently doing a public services course and would like to be a firefighter in the air force.

What are the chances of actually being able to do this and do i need any specific qualifications?

Many thanks ben :D

You can definitely be a firefighter in the RAF. See here: - http://www.rafcareers.com/jobs/job_file ... ighter.cfm

One of my mates joined the RAF as a firefighter last year and says it is a great job. He is currently based in the UK, tells me that he works shifts: 2 Days and 2 Nights, and that he gets the equivalent of 4 days off a week. He says it can get a little boring at times (in his experience), but it is worth it, and the pay is great.

No qualifications required. Just pass the entrance test at the AFCO and the specialist selection course at Manston. Make sure you're fit and strong!

You need to be fit and strong to be able to wash and polish the wagons each day....................Still, the sting vest has a certain appeal and the boots are very Carnaby Street.

Aye :o
