Dude skip the regular TA and go direct.
The regular TA has nothing in common with the TA SAS other than the colour of uniform.

TA then TA SAS?
Go for 4Para based in Nottingham. Try and pass that, then get to grips with all the neccessary skills of infantry soldiering. You will have a head start on most recruits if you do decide to transfer but be warned, I served alongside two ex-royal marines in 4Para they went for selection and failed. Therefore selection into the TA SAS isnt to be taken lightly just because it is part time.
'Every man an Emperor'
I stand corrected Adj125,
Must just be SB that has the 28 years old cutoff age
Must just be SB that has the 28 years old cutoff age
I know of one lad who's trying for SB, this year is his last to try as then hes to old for them.
Chaos, Disorder, Destruction.....My work here is done!

Why can't you accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue.

Just ring them and ask!
It takes a far old time to pass, and you will need to do every other weekend for 2 years. Will your course allow that? A mate of mine went to Newcaslte Uni, joined 23, passed, badged and happy. It worked for him. But he was fit as a butchers dog anyway. As for the "get experience first", well, they teach you all you need to know.
2 -3 months pre selection, 9 months in the hills all need specialist teaching or you could die. It can be harder if you have been taught a way of doing something and it's not the way they want you to! You will stand out and be noticed. And saying "thats the was we did it in the Womans Auxillary Balloon Corps Staff." wont do, cos they will ask if that was the way you were shown with them last week and if no....... Bye bye!
As for your age, well if you have prevoius mill exp, then you can do selection till your 34 (I think 23 now say 35, but 21 say 34.), but it is soooooo hard then most fail. 28 is almost the perfect age. A mixture of youth for recovery and strenght, age for staminer and maturity in behaviour. Give it a go.

The Rhodesian SAS went through a stage where they preferred to recruit members with no previous military experience. The reason being was they could get them thinking along SAS ways from the start as opposed to more or less retrain people to think along special forces lines. I went to a TA open day a couple of years back. And 21 had a stand. I was talking to the Regiment guy and he said they wernt that bothered by previous military experience he gave more or less the same reason as above. There used to be a series on the tv about people wanting to join the Paras. One of the recruits was ex SAS TA and the narrator was making a big deal about how hard he was finding it. But it seemed to me that in the field he was doing alright it was just all the square bashing and bed packing crap he was getting bored with. A mate of mine went into the RAF as a loadie. And one of his intake on basic was ex 23 and he had the same problem. So I reckon if you reckon your fitness is ok then go straight to the sqdns. If you do pass there selection then do a couple of years of that. And if then you are interested go to the cadet forces as an adult instructor and they will teach you how to do bedpacks and drill movements etc. And anything else that is totally worthless in a war.
