I get the blank A4 pad about twice a year. It's about as thick as the clipboard we SNCO's in 41 Cdo. Malta, used to walk around with when we wanted to look busy/important - but really, just wanted to skive off somewhere!! Anybody else remember this ruse?

Aldo,

You would have to read it to find out.

But then of course someone in wearing black masking tape would have to come round and kill you. :D :D :D :o

Ahh the glamorous fashion of the SF world! :D

Sneaky, what do your lot wear? I mean masking tape would just disintergrate if it got wet, my bets on a thick layer of waterproof creasote :P

I remember we stayed the night at a 23 SAS base, possibly C squadron when one of my para mates exclaimed
"I wonder if they walk around with balaclavas on all the time"

to which another one of our lads replied

"nah.. they just keep black tape over their eyes."

Sneaky, I remember 41 Cdo malta, that was a holiday, oops, sory draft in itself, turn to in sports kit, do the madelena or victoria lines, then back for volleyball, then another sports game, swimming or whatever, another shyte shave and shampoo, occaisionally, you may have to turn to in training rig, ( for those 41 cdo ranks not knowing what this is) denims, shirt, boots, puttees(yes, puttees) and maybe, yes maybe, a weapon, yes, one of those things you point at people, squeeze the trigger, and it goes bang, yes, i say again, occaisionally, you may have to draw yours from the store, but only very occaisionally. other than that, it was down to St georges Lido, for more bronzyiny...........ah, that was the life. what say Ye oh Sneaky Beaky? 8)

4pararec,

The so called 'balaclava' is in fact a Nomex fireproof hood, originaly they were pussers issue flashoods dyed black. The purpose is to protect from the burning bits of stun grenades and the fires they often start. :o

Chunky, does 21 and 23 train you for the CT role? I assume they would but it's best to here it from the horses mouth, if they do could you tell me when you throw a flash bang into a room are you told to generally wait till it goes off before entering or to just immediatley follow it into a room? I've seen both done on seperate so called "factual" documentries so which is it? I'm starting to think all these docs are misinformation given by the mod  (Beware the saucer people!) :o

Asking about operational procedures Aldo? Tut tut tut ;).

In any case the documentaries are still made by the media so could be made up, assumed, or simply the methods could have changed depending on how old their sources were etc.

Shhhh, all I need is this and my plan is complete 8)

Seriously now, I was watching that recent doc the other night and Eddie Stone was using one and then saying they were taught to do it the other way. Just wondered if that was a mistake or if they use both. If they can tell you on the beeb I don't think this little questions going to comprimise the SAS too much.

Hey bootneck,
Ididn't say that I didn't enjoy my little time in the sun. I still had occasion to use the old clip board trick though!!
Aldo
Funnily enough masking tape is water proof! However else would they keep the paper bag over their ugly mushes!

Aldo,

It has been said by the MOD, so it is in the public domain that 21 and 23 are not reinforcements for 22, but have their own role as Lrrps (long range reconaisance patrols).

However people with time on their hands can volunteer for an attachment with 22 and learn various things. :D :o

Garryowen,

Go to the MOD website and you will find details and telephone numbers, at one time people from NI had a long wait for vetting, but this may have changed now.

Anyone from the RAMC would be made very welcome and if you don't fancy a Sabre Squadron, you may get into the support element. However I assume you want to pass selection so the very best of luck. :D :D
