Treadmills are a particular waste of time.

However if you have the cash to spare then there are probably worst ways of getting rid of it.
Good to see I'm not the only one that think's along these lines.

Real ale and stout all the way

Alcopops are for girls and should be banned.

Quite frankly.

Treadmills are good for CV fitness in some respects. The treadmills at my gym have a 30 mins fartlek program. It is bloody knackering, I run at level 10 and the average speed is 15k/ph with varying gradients. I only do it once a week however because I agree with many of you that it is more beneficial to run in the clean air outside regularly. However one run a week on the treadmill dosent hurt.
Last summer I was doing 3 fartleks a week, while on leadership course with cadets I got a level 18 in the bleep-test we had to do.
Therefore It wouldnt hurt, considering there is a bleep test pn the PRMC!.

I agree, I've got myself one of those magnetic treadmills. You have to power it yourself by sort of pushing yourself backwards using the bar infront of you while at the same time walking. It's not very good fro running because you can't use your arms, but for long walks on an incline it's brilliant. I'd certainly recomend one for someone who lives in a flat built up area.

I go to the gym everyday. 10 min treadmill, 10 min cycle, 10 min rowing, then the weights. Eat lunch, swim for 20 min, then a nice relaxing sauna and shower.

If you stick at it you really feel the benefits. Of course, I also go running, cycling and walking outside too. But if you have the time and money, then it's definately worth investing in a gym membership. :D

What a life you students have scumfrog :D

I just find treadmills so boring, apart from counting the bricks in the wall or checking out the female talent it all seems a waste of energy. The only time I have used them though is when the air is so cold you can't run outside (Norway) as the moisture in the air forms crystals on your lungs - about -8C.

I know what you mean Contractor.
When running on a treadmill, I usually try and play games in my head. Like, name an animal for each letter of the alphabet or something. lol

But you're right, it's so boring. My PJFT was on a treadmill, and let me tell you I am glad I don't have to go through that again. The seconds ticked by so slowly that it was painful. Outside it wouldn't have bothered me, you have scenery. Stuff to look at and think about, you know?

Anyway, I'm waffling.......
