A four day gym week! wow! where do you find the time for running?? Are you lifting heavy or medium weights? I go every 5 days but in between I'll be doing either sprint or distance running training or resting. My Gym routine is an overall body routine and is more basic exercises with medium to heavy weight for fewer sets (1 to 2) I'll try not to have much rest between sets and will push v. hard. My session lasts about 45mins to 1hour. I used to do a two day split routine (pushing muscles one day. pulling/leg muscles the other) but I now prefer to concentrate on my running so shortened down my routine and packed it into one session.

does anyone else find that once your in the gym, your there for at least 2-3 hours. I always seem to be able to do "one more rep"
I always come out about a stone lighter aswell
stuck in a rut, unsure about the future, unsure about the military lifestyle, for a while anyway

Dont take 2 hrs either go more times a week and spread the workout or have less rest. When you stay long you sort to get bored and wont work as hard. Trust me ive once spent about 5 hrs at the gym.

you can't get bored in the gym, remember the next person to walk in the door could be a fit bird. if you keep that on your mind you'll push yourself hard

right mate this is what to do follow this and i'll personally guarantee that by the time yuo go to prmc you'll be pinging them out, ya gonna do five sets of ten every other day (do it with a two day break for the first week or you'll just be training tired muscles) get somone to spot you but not by the feet which brings ya legs into it get them to give you a hand from the lower back and just push you up a touch do these like this for the first two weeks just two break ya self in, beleive me they're hard, then week three invest in some cheap weights, just the weight no bar and a weight belt and for yur first set strap 2.5 kg to you then do four unweighted, then week four first set with 5kg second 2.5kg then three free weight, do this until you are doing four weighted sets but always keep one set unweighted then just increase the weight every week (as long as you feel you can) the unweighted set should get easier and easier. It's also worth one week in two on a Saturday morning doing one set unweighted of as many reps you can do without any help, just to see how many you can do, I think you'll see the number shoot up quick quickly, but beleive you me your back is gonna kill everytime you do this so be prepared for pain.

Cheers mate, never thought of trying to take some weight off to start with...I've already got a chin bar and dumbells, so maybe all is not lost. I like the idea of leaving the bar up and just grabbing it every time I see it rather than just in training...thanks peeps. Now they just have to let me in with the drink-drive thing...!!
