They've now got to carry out security checks etc. As long as you've got nothing to hide, you should have nothing to worry about in that respect.

If you've failed at the interview, they will normally tell you within 2 -3 weeks. If you've not heard anythinf after 2 weeks, I wouldn't be overly worried - it just takes a long time to sort out the admin and get you booked onto a course.

Please remember however, that any offer is only PROVISIONAL...you still have a final interview (that requires a lot of preparation) and have to pass training.

I had my interview for electronics engineer around the same time as you and one of the people I asked to provide a reference received the forms to fill out at the weekend. I was told it could take a while because the paper work is being sorted out by the M.O.D, but was not given an indication of the time scale.

Your last interview will be with an Officer (the Office Commander). He will want to know that you have prepared yourself properly for Recruit Training. Generally, you need to have read and understood the brochures.

Stuff like:

1. What happens on the RTS course?
2. What happens on your specialist training?
3. What you will do in your job?
4. What fitness have you been doing? (Be warned..you get weighed! So don't go eating all the pies!)
5. How long will you join for?
6. How long is the Reserve Service? (i.e. you can be called up after you leave the RAF).

This IS an important interview...you CAN fail...but you won't as long as you bother to do some basic preparation.

YOU HAVE TO KNOW ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THE RAF AS WELL WITH SOME KNOWLEDGE OF PLANES AND OTHER RAF MACHINERY, IT ALL HELPS THAT BIT BETTER TO SHOW THEM YOUR COMFORTABLE WITH WHAT YOU WANT TO DO AND AREN;T JUMPING IN AT THE DEEP END
Death is Gods way of saying you failed selection

History of the RAF? I don't think so....

Knowledge of Planes? Only for Officer or Airmen Aircrew. Perhaps they might ask you a question like "what sort of plane would you like to work on?" if you were an aircraft technician...but they wouldn't expect much knowledge....

You would be expected to know about your specialist training and the type of job you will do.

Mostly, the last interview is about making sure you know exactly what RTS consists of, that you are prepared for RTS and is an opportunity for the Officer to make a final go / no-go decision about you.

I received my letter the other day provisionally giving me the start date of the 7th of January.
This is subject to the M.O.D check and further interview(s) but it is nice to be given an indication.
