brigadier backhouse the chap who did the interviewing at my afco but i wouldnt believe everything he said because i dont think he took well to me because i said the paras were undisaplined.if it is true though its a bit of a bugger. My advice to you would be, be yourself no one else is going to earn your commission not some alter ego just you.

RMAS intake

Post by df2inaus »

As I understand, demand is usually highest for the Sept intake-why not go in May or Jan. Either way it will be pissing with rain while at Sennybridge on exercise no matter what time of year you get there. Spaces will always open up and remember, the army really needs officers and will do whatever they can to get the maximum number of cadets possible in the gates. Once you pass the RCB, keep calling the number on the acceptance notice and you'll get there.
"Poor Ike, it won't be a bit like the Army. He'll find it very frustrating. He'll sit here and he'll say, 'Do this! Do that!' And nothing will happen."

Don't pay too much attention to the "Full" comments from liaison officers. When they say they are full, they mean they have enough people in the interest list to fill an intake, but not all of them get through RCB, and some drop out.
They told me that my May intake was full, yet here I am at Sandhurst.
September intakes are oversubscribed, but they are trying to increase the amount of officers coming through in the May intakes to balance the course.

P.S. Sennybridge is a hell-hole

Just passed RCB Briefing and was told that May 04 still has spaces as does Sept 04 but they are limited. I was told that those on the Reserve list for Sept usually get on given the high numbers involved (i.e 270 intake and a 70 man reserve list). Hope that helps.

I can confirm that Sennybridge has lovely weather following my visits there with the Officer Training Corps.

As has been said, they measure you during RCB against their own standards, therefore they need plenty of applicants as only a small proportion actually meet the standards. Give it your best.
