Hi (advice wanted and introduction)

Post by Severia »

Hi to all. :D
I wanted to know if any of you are in or have contacts in military intelligence (MI5, MI6). I am a student who after my degree would like to join one of the above. I am studying a BSc(hons) in molecular science, and would like any advice possible on how to make me a into a possible candidate for a career in the above mentioned groups.
If I was I bloke I'd have signed up years ago so as I could have gone for SAS selection but sadly they dont let girlies do anything that interesting.

Severia,
MI5, more correctly the Security Service has a recruitment procedure like any other civil service department. Try their web site and it should have the information you need. Try something like www.security service.gov.uk from Google or other search engine and it shoul get you in.

MI6, the Secret Service, is just that, secret. Recriuts are usually head hunted from universities where some academics do a little talent spotting and pass on the names of likely candidates to Vauxhall Cross ( the bit that is no secret) for the recruiers to follow-up.

I'd suggest keeping your ambitions hush-hush from now on, if you're serious that is ...

I was hoping that someone would be able to give me something more specific. The information I have recieved so far is stuff I found on the net.
(Did you know that the CIA are more open than the British secirity services).
I was wondering if a certain minimum fitness level would be expected and if other skills are expected to be acquired prior to applying.
So far It seems a bit of a guessing game.

It's not mine either! How careless, someone seems to have lost a name. Anybody claim a name? JR is it your new name following your succesful gender reassignment? 8)
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

I can only speculate, but I can't really see fitness requirements to be any higher than Police requirements. I had a crack at the Role Related fitness test that Sussex Police use and it was easy peasy. But as I understand it fitness requirements differ from county to county. But from what the MI5 website says, I don't think they are too worried about physical fitness. All I could find was:

"Basic physical fitness. Applicants may be required to attend a fitness assessment "

Hope that helps,
Andy
