dose anyone know what the eyesight requirements for joining the paras are? I wear contact lenses now would this prevent me from joining?

Quoting from 'Entry into the army as an officer' information booklet:

The standard personal weapon is the SA80 and this requires vision in the right eye to be correctable to no less than 6/9. Vision in the left eye must be correctable to no less than 6/36. Spectacle correction mst be no greater than -7 diopters or +8 diopters in any meridian.

Certain types of surgery or laser treatment to correct visual defects are unacceptable and clarification should be sought prior to application.'

Hope that sorts a few things out.

Well my eyes are -2.5 so hopefully i should be fine then. There wont be any difference between the officers standerds and the soldiers should there?

Sonic me ole mate, Officers and men all have to pass the same test. This goes for the P Cpourse as well, you could well find your self in the ring
knocking seven bells out of a Captain, or some other rank.
