Hey Ranger !

Post by MORTARDUDE »

Small world. My great-grandfather rode with Forrest. He was in Co. A ( Neely's ) 14th ( also called 13th ) Tennessee Cavalry, C.S.A. He also served with Co. F 9th Tenn. Infantry C.S.A. In tracing both sides of my family I found I had a great-great grandfather who fought for the Union side ( 2nd Illinois Cavalry ) They fought against each other in several battles. I had a lot of fun with all of this, because my great-grandfather left a large paper trail while trying to secure a Confederate pension from Tenn. He never got it, but his widow did. Seems they counted him as a deserter, as they did 50% of his company, after the Battle of Shiloh when their one year enlistment was up. Most went and joined the cavalry to harass the Union troops behind the lines.

Larry, Tex and Gearjammer, that was an interesting discourse.
Will you boys be taking long hot showers in the wee small hours and swapping spit in the moonlight, whilst getting in touch with your feminine sides?
Naw, just joshing boys.
Good to see our cousins taking part, well done lads. 8)
Jimmy Beams all round,
Aye :drinking:

PS Jonboy, for more info on Cleveland, talk to Ratso or Pilgrim Norway

For those who have had to defend it, liberty has a flavor the protected will never know

In the movie Forest Gump (notice only one R in the movie surname), gump says that Nathan Forrest was his grand father. That would make Forrest gump and me cousins
