Putting my feelers out...

Post by Maverick00 »

Good evening one and all

Im a 2nd yr sports science student a loughborough uni and im currentl in the process of designing my dissertation, which is going to be on the effect of time of day on training perfomance (bit more complicated than that but cant be arsed to explain). What with me hopefully doing POC in nearish future and all im basing my project on the fitness tests used by RM.
Basically im trying to get an idea who'd be available for taking part in it (obviously have to live in loughborough/leicestershire area). It wont be till after sept this year but just getting an idea on avaliablity of subjects.

Secondly, for the more experienced gentlemen out there...
a) Who should I contact in the RM to gain info about their tests? THere are some technical q's i need to ask
b) Would doing this kind of thing for my dissertation give me brownie points in my application?

Cheers!

Hi Mav, contact your AFCO or phone CTC and ask the for name of the Officer in charge of the Gymnasium staff, he'll be bouncing on his head in a corner. He'll be your best bet. The other info you need in terms of recovery times, fitness levels etc during and progressing during training, were part of a deep study conducted by Exeter Uni in the 1970/71 period. I was one of the guinea pigs with 928 squad, and it was bloody hard work, they put s through their mill every four weeks for six months, we dreaded the later tests as we knew what was coming and how knacked we would be.
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

Cheers El Prez, my project will be nothing like that kind of scale fortunately, I just need to find out if they conduct their physical tests on the POC/PRMC at the same time of day every time.
What about the brownie points? Will it make for 100% keeno material?

You could phone up CTC and explain that you have a proposition that is mutually beneficial to both of you. You get a dissertation done, and the training staff get to learn when the best time to train the guys is, ending up with fitter men in a shorter time. It's worth a shot. :fadein:
