Dutch Marines

Guys, I’d like you all to join me in giving a warm Royal Marines "welcome aboard", to a new member.

He is a young Mne 1st Class serving in the Dutch Corps, his name is Roy Lennings. Roy is following in his father’s footsteps in that Corps, which is some task, as his dad was a Sgt Major, ML, SBS amongst other things.
Sadly, his dad passed away on Oct 6 2001. Roy tells me his dad spent many winters in Norway and some time in Scotland. (Must have been with Whiskey Coy) His name was Ron Lennings, and Roy would be really pleased for anyone who knew his dad to get in touch.
Once again, Roy, prettig u ontmoeten.

Gents, can I ask you to take a tot of jonge jenever (young gin) to the Dutch Corps and to Roy.

Did not necesseraly have to be with W coy Harry. We had SBS and Dutch marine equivelant living with us in Harstad 78.

Andy, no my father was not a frog at that time. But he has been in Norway many times.
He never talked much about the things the SBS did.
One things is for sure, i liked working with our Brittish neighbours Excersises with the Royal marine commando's was more fun because they did so much more (They were allowed to do more things), like when you do a pickup from the water with a chinook heli, you guys are allowed to hang right into the water with the CH...
....our airforce isn't allowed to do that

Oh, your dutch is great....but trust me, you'd better stick to english...

Had a nice time at Texell (think the spelling is right). You lot still used the old LCA's then.

My next door neighbour in Plympton MQ's (Plymouth) was an RNLMC Sgt. (good for the Heiniken duty free, so he was!)

Spent a while with the Netherlands Marine Corps just outside Utrecht in the 65, they were the most hospitable shower of piss heads I have ever had the pleasure to meet.....I still remember the smell of thier coffee in the mornings....and I dont even drink the stuff.

H....If your living within 1000 miles of Mad Mick I'd up roots and move to central China....He'll lead you ashtray..... or even astray! He did'nt Emigrate he was bloody deported....and you know something, he has'nt changes a bit in the last 40 bloody years.
It was he and I, on our first run ashore at Deal, in full Blues and having been sent back from the guard room a dozen times for a bit of fluf in our uniforms, we eventually got through th barracks gates.
Got on top of a Bus to town and a short while later I had a tap on me shoulder....Little old lady behind, with sweet smiling face said to us both " Hope you do'nt mind me saying....but I think you'r so smart and special.... I have a grandson in the Salvation Army too". Made our day?

No can't say that i did. Think it was before my time?? But then, unless we're stationed on "Texel" we don't go there very often. We go there to for amphibius trainings or when you're a full time LCA or rubber boat operator. I am most of the times in Doorn, sometimes Rotterdam.
