Re: commonwealth applicants
I'm a Canadian who has never lived in the UK and I did the PRMC (failed) last year. My time from my first call to the recruiting office in London to being in London doing all the tests was four months. On my PRMC there was also an Aussie and a Fijian and I wrote my RN/RM tests with an RM applicant from South Africa. The biggest pain for a non-UK citizen Commonwealther will probably be the vetting which can take quite some time. If you have anymore specific questions I'd be happy to try and answer them.Neofj wrote:just wanted to know if there are any commonwealth applicants who have never lived in the united kingdom and have been accepted in the marines. would like to know your experienece

thanks for the reply gipper. well i have a lot of questions and would be glad for your reply. here are some of the questions:
1.how long were you actually in england doing the tests, prmc e.t.c?
2.I just sent my questionanaire a week ago, the one that checks if the overseas applicants are elligible(asking for birth certificate, reference etc, so i wanted to know what happens after this ?
3.and also what is a vetting?
I will be very grateful for your answers, as this is my first time to apply for the marines.[/list]

Hi Neofj, the PRMC takes 2 days of very strenous effort, like trying to hang onto Vainga Tuigamala for 2 days!
Vetting is a security background check, done to ensure you have no outstanding criminal convictions and they check your family background.
Fijian nationals have been recruited in recent years, your main problem will be with the weather. It's bloody cold compared to those lovely islands of yours. a course commencing March April, will mean spending the summer and autumn out of doors, much easier than a winter on Dartmoor.

You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.
