All ex and serving soldiers, If you have not heard already some
2,592 soldiers “THAT HAS BEEN ADMITTED SO FAR” where made to leave the regiment/corps against there will and a still unspecified number to change there contracts to S-Type, or as we all knew it the dreaded "BROWN ENVELOPE".many were very experienced professional blokes, not all were “dead wood” as they was led to believe. Some 500 blokes from 5 Airborne Brig in 96 alone were subject to this.
It has now been exposed that the reason for the Brown Letter was to
save on Pensions, example for every 4 soldiers made to leave/change
to shorter contracts 1 Million pound would be saved in pensions in the future

There is very soon to be a public enquiry and a high profile Court case and possible fincaial compensation for those effected after the case is won..........and it will be.
Remember the Army is still heavly under-manned and have sufferd for a number of years, this was just one system thought up by a nameless
civil servant to rob us yet again.
However the worst victim of this system was a young child called Chandler, one or two here know of the lad
here is a link for you all to read

<http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/mai...%2Fnsquad29.xml>

Point to note. when this system was first uncoverd by the press in april 02 buy coincidence only two soldiers had been subject to this in that year, the last being in April 02. NO MORE HAVE EVER BEEN SUBJECT TO THIS AGAIN

your thoughts on this subject please.

Hello Bob, I remember reading this in the Torygraph last Aprill. Someone thought it would be a good dodge. Probably the same dick who persuaded the Strategic Defence Review that the Army is Eleven battalions over strenght.
Aye, Harry

Too true and look at how every Battalion has had to swap men between the Battalions to make up the numbers for operations (over-stretch) and they (Gov) knew it all the time.

Now look at the mess they are in. try this it will work now :D

Very sad

Post by jannet b »

I have seen this very sad story about the small child, Chandler on many news paper reports, I also saw the state that his mother was in on Sky news.
I think the last time was only 2 weeks ago with Prince Charles giving support to his family.
I do not understand this Pension thing. one wife has asked me about it as her husband who is serving his country on Op TELIC along with my hubby, he will be made to leave under this scheam in November, what has he done so wrong, for him and his family to be made to leave in such a manner?
My husband joined the same time and is the same rank, will this happen to us?
what happend to the family in the news? and will the army/MOD be willing to allow that to happen to other familys who come uder this scheam?

If you search back into the previous forums I mentioned that
the whole of the British military Structure was in for a big reshuffle,
This is the start of it , the Target date for the completion is reckond
to be the year 2010.

is the same as Harry has stated at the present time under the plans that are laid down for the future we are Grossly over manned,

This forward planning was to be part of the so called europian Army,
we will have to wait and see what happens now because of the probable
split in europe, ie!! "France" Germany" just to quote two.

Aye

Used and abused

Post by Bob Sidmond »

Could not agree more John_D, this cost cutting has gone over all three services's.
I think it is also a disgrace that this GOV will used soldiers as thay are now, but once back will dump on then, when not needed as thay have done before.
I think its very shocking that their are wives not only worrying about there husbands but also worring about there future once there husband gets back.

I know of one guy who was subject to this system 3 years ago, who has now been recalled and has been told he may not have a job when he gets back.
Their are also many Reg soldiers still serving on S-Type contracts and at this point, risking there life.

logic????????????

Post by Bob Sidmond »

Dont think so Count, shelf stackers at Tescos get to plead there case are warned before hand and treaded far better.
Soldiers where just made to put pen to paper............sorry asked
then kicked out on there arse but whats more disturbing was thay would let them waste 12 years of there life then drop them for no real logical reason.......well not the reason HMG spun to the press anyway.

I'm llost, the number of what? :-? Anyway, about call up papers, my mate was in the tank regiment, but left 18 months ago and went into the police force.
Two weeks ago he was sent callup papers, even though he was out of the army for 18 months. When he phoned up to protest his side, and that he was a policeman now, he was told that he could probably stay at home. But 2 days ago he recieved his call up papers agin, he must leave for the Gulf in a couple of days, no retraining, just straight back to driving tanks again.
Shocking indeed.
There are 3 kinds of people: those who can count & those who can't.

The numbers of soldiers that were being forced to leave against their will, for no logical reason other than saving money later on.
As for your pal I thought being plod would exculed him from call up, the same as firemen. anyone else had this problem?
