Rob,Hope your day is going well! I send my condolences to you and the families of my fallen brother Marines in this time of war. They are in my thougths and prayers.I would like to know if you have any information or where I can go i.e. websites,URLS ect. of the British involvement with the Multi-national force in Beirut from 1982-1984.I was stationed with C1/8 in 1983 when the Marine headquarters barracks was destroyed. I will never forget, but I am finally coming to grips..and reading and researching all that I can. I appreciate any help you may give.Semper-Fi!! Chuck Hall SSGT/USMC

British contingent of the Multi-National Force Beirut.

When I was in Lebanon the British contingent was a company from the Queens Dragoon Guards. They had those neat little Ferret scout cars, I traded one guy a K-bar knife for a beret and a few other items.

Yep Queens Dragoon Guards, & sat off shore was HMS Fearless, and the 4th Assult Squadron Royal Marines. I recall the bombing and also the C130 being brought down. That was the worst I believe the US Marines had just completed their tour and were on their way home.

As I recall, and I will deny it if asked outside of this forum, LCM's went ashore and traded SNEG Missiles for Arafats safe passage to a peace conference to Cyprus. Extracting him from a location where certain destruction was the sure result... I remember the OCAS falling through the jetty the wood was so rotten... over the end of 83 begining of 84

The Queens Dragoon Guards had an armoured vehcle and crew taken hostage when it took a wrong turning, only to be let go completely intact when they found out they were brits...
