I read in the newspaper that they are looking to increase the size of SF to 2000+!!!!! Were are we gonna find the man power to fill the numbers bearing in mind the pass rate on selection is so low? I hope this dosnt mean a drop in standards?

Whats your views folks? Oh and Toni, there was no mention about females trying for selection  Sorry, but one day, you never know.....
Females will become airborne!

Brittish Commando standard have dropped in the last 30 years to increase numbers... If they try to do that to the SAS it would be horrendous.

U0001, I'd be very careful where you are going with this thread, maybe with your vast experience you should explain why you think Commando Test standards have dropped over the last few years!! Otherwise wind yer neck in........

You can take a scouse to water, but you can't hold him under forever! Much as you'd like to.
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

Rob if you were take a scouser to the mersey you wouldn't have to hold him under, chances are he'd snag his kecks on an old shopping trolley or a dumped Mk1 Ford Fiesta and he'll be dragged under by the current... :D

I was watching a documentry, I forget the exact score but.

30 years ago applicants had to score (say 100) on a rifle range, now they have to shoot (say 75). They did this because people were having trouble and not passing, so they made the number less, that way they could keep numbers up.

Drill sergeants arn't vrey happy about it.

U0001, you don't believe everything you see on the TV do you! Perhaps you should bear in mind that this site is frequented by serving/ex/retired and potential Royal Marines, some of your comments could be construed as offensive. By all means enter into the debates and other conversations but please be sure you can back up your comments with evidence.

Owdun and Parry are insinuating that U0001 may somehow be related to moi. I posted Jay about him when he first started and asked Jay to check his e mail address.

It`s in Brisbane.

Hope that was helpfull

Well the only way I could see to find the real answere would be to ask an old commando and a new commando and ask them about the differences in the training, im sure it would be more difficult in some ways today but Im just saying that certain things have changed to help get more numbers.
