Right Stand by your beds.

Just been back to Lympstone..... well FRIDAY 13th Dec for a pass out parade of 830 TROOP

I was 830 SQUAD.

Good day 200 odd parents (and some were odd....joke???!!!) and a few of us old and bold made it back.

I'll tell you I was imprest (ok impressed see engils lang) by the drill. I know they did not have much time to do it... but when they split into three and advance forward in three separate arrowhead formations. Each indiviual halting by themselves...... it looks immpressive.

I was a DL so was looking at it with a different set of eyes than the parents (yes I have my own eyes in my head you daft bugger!!!). Yes there were a couple of slight technical mistakes... bound to be, but over all.
GG RR EE AA TT. great

Or as one of "our" blokes stated........We couldn't have done that! Could we??

So drill is still there and in the time allowed they do a fine job.

Like anything practice makes perfect... Why is it a doctors practice???

Just found this thread and thought I'd put your minds at ease.

We are still taught drill throughout training. Whoever informed you that we only have it weeks 1 and 30 is ill informed. I am will be going back after leave into week 9 and so far we have had drill every week at least 1 periods worth often more than that.

So no need to worry we still can march well.

 Having spent most of my 25 years service dodging.top of the list DL's, Jack Adj,RSM's and above all Provost sergeants,I did manange to find time enjoy life, with the aid of course a couple of DL's namely,Bill Lester, and George (Jock) Mc'Cullum who used to invite me regulary to join them and enjoy the JNCO's course, and who could not believe that I was better off as a Three Badger?.It's amazing how the Main drag at Lympstone, when it was the ITC would suddenly clear when either Jack Adj,or the RSM appeared from their respective Grots,Ah happy Days. :D Aye JR

The Parade Office has the number 4223 as this was the best that could be offered to them.

It also makes it easier for the Drill Instuctors to remember the number as well.

AND easier for you lot NOT TO FORGET!!!!!!!!!!!

In my travels I visited a place called OVERBURY STUD so on leaving I took a photo of thier sign.

I scanned it and for the DL's reunion asked the First Drill to secretly give it to Podge. He accused Len Chester of sending it to him.

At last years RMA reunion I got selotape and stuck it on Podges back... unfortunatly within 2 secs of me putting it there a bloke behind him ripped it off and gave it to Podge....... I got a Black Spot in the post the other day!

Podge has a mole now, and told me about Malone's little trick. He did appreciate it, and is biding his time. Having met him, he is one person I would never stick anything on, except a medal! What a star. People in the pub were erawigging his tales and pissing themselves.
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

Podges' great passion on leaving the Corps was cultivating the most beautiful orchids. Having exprienced all the facets of his service personality I found this almost surreal. He was also a very good water polo player and god help you if you were marking him.
