Cops get it wrong and how many of us are historically celtic (which were the original people who resided in Briton)? We're either roman, viking, french, germanic or a mixture....WHICH ARE YOU ?!

It's christmas and as far as i can remember, it was never about gifts. I always thought it's about good-will and cheer FOR ALL ... black, brown, white, immigrant (legal/illegal), employed, unemployed...whatever.
So next time you wish or are wished a Merry Christmas - THINK ABOUT WHAT IT REALLY MEANS.

End of preaching....now hit me with the pain !

Which am I ?
I am British and have been for 76 years and have paid taxes, for nearly 60 of those years.
And I object to my taxes being used to to help accused terrorists stay in my country.

And A merry Christmas to all

Operative word being ACCUSED. You are paying to find out if these people, possibly also British, are guilty (since we assume they are innocent until...). Don't blame the accused, blame the politicians who devised/support legal aid.

British is a nationality, not an ethnic orientation which is what i was talking about.

Merry Xmas and happy new year

SUSPECTED AI-Qaida terrorists accused of wanting to bomb Britain are to
be given tens of thousands in taxpayers’ cash so they can fight to stay here.
Chunky please reread the first two lines of my post in
Particular the last four words

Fight to stay here

Does this sound as though they are British?
And yes I am blaming the politicians who devised the legal aid system
which allows any Tom Dick or Harry to come into this country and take advantage of the system
It doe not matter if the accused are guilty of terrorism or not if there is the slightest doubt, they should be refused the right to stay
After all we have enough scum in Britain without the need to import more

Merry Christmas everyone

I got your back on this one Anodrog.
No other country would use their own taxpayers money so that terrorists can gain legal aid to stay in the country. Yes I blame the politicians, but I also blame do gooder human rights people who get behind these illegal immigrants n terrorists. Their stance and constant winging about equal rights backs the government into a corner and allows scum bag terrorists to roam my country doing what they want

My mistake about the British matter - apologies.

On the main point, we just have to disagree on principle. In matters of law, I believe everybody is innocent until proven guilty. As such, I do not agree with punishing somebody just because there is suspicion of guilt.

Yes everyone is innocent until proven guilty
I fail to see how anyone under suspicion is being punished by being refused entry to Britain

Would you admit a suspected burglar or murder in your home?

Every day, Anodrog.

My missus has been robbing me blind since the day we were married (allegedly) and is always telling me "I could murder you"!

Going back to the title of the thread, why is it that they want to come to this country in particular?
Why do they stop off in France only to attempt to gain access to the UK? why not apply for asylum with the Frenchies...

I don't see the french/Germans or Italians offering any of the Osama crew money so they can take up a hostile residency in their country, its utter madness.

If we are really going to go to war with Iraq any time soon do you think its wise to be letting anyone in even slightly suspicious, let alone paying for their legal fees.

On the subject of this country being a soft touch,
I just read today that one of the tinkers that got shot by farmer Tony Martin, is to sue tony for £15000.

So lets get this straight, a couple of tinkers break into your home in the middle of the night, where you live alone in the countryside, you dont know what they are doing there or if they have a gun, and you shoot them with your shotgun.
As a result you get sent to jail for 5 years for manslaughter, and another 3 years for gbh. on top of that you now have to pay the scum £15000 because "he hasnt been able to work since the incident"???!! (like he worked before! )

SOMEONE BREAKS INTO YOUR HOME AND YOU GO TO JAIL AND HAVE TO PAY THEM £15000!

One of the main reasons is language. We're reaping the harvest of our imperialist past. Seems we've all forgotten we didn't emigrate to lots of these countries - we went and conquered them - and taught them English at the same time! Movies, TV and Sky did it for the rest.

It's getting the point where I wonder if the Corps is enough to keep me in this country.
