World War????

Post by Beasta »

Watchin President George W last night give his speech on the US stance over Iraq. On more than one news channel (BBC, SkyNews), the 'experts' and summary people were claiming that this could spark the beginning of WW3....?? :o
Sort of shocked me that. They had proper in depth analysis on it as well as an interview with Jack Straw.
Did anyone else see this? Is this really it?
How can we fight a war on such a large scale against no defined enemy and no defined victory criteria. i.e there will be no formal surrender or pulling out of occupied terrortory..This could go on for a long time

The next war could probably be the last war. Didn't Nostradamus, back ing the seventeenth century, predict the the third world war would start in the Middle East?? How can you fight a war when the enemy is within your own country? Should we build concentration camps and intern everyone who isn't a British national? Where do you stop? Plenty of questions but very few answers.

Wully, If we put them into internment camps, their offspring will be back in 50 years time looking for compensation.

Does anybody else recognise the irony in Bush's Homeland Security Expert, Tom Rudge, briefing Jack Straw last night about possible security problems. Teaching us to suck eggs now, oh well.
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

Ro55,
People of his religion do not care if they will be wiped out. Thats what makes them all the more dangerous. They believe that if they die, they die cos it was Allahs will or whoever. They become martyrs in their homeland and heros to their family. If it goes off Saddman will declare a holy war and statehow the West is attcking the whole of the islamic world not just Iraq. This will cause the outbreak of the war. They'll attack us with the lovely weapons the West has been selling them for years...
Its the time to put up or shut up really, talking might not be able to solve this one..Bit is could get very very messy........ :o

From my own experience, and I am sure the experiences of others who have served in conflicts in the Middle East. Only the fanatics of the Muslim faith are willing to meet their God prematurely. The vast majority have no such wish.

Well he just did, i just heard on radio1 the anonymously refused to comply with the inspectors. That man is so screwed beyond believe its unbelievable, why doesnt he let them in instead of being an ass and getting bombed for the next 2 years. I wonder how long the conflict will actually last and how saddam is going to 'play it'. He sure as hell wont take to the open ground but use 'public bodyguards' aka bystanders to hide his troops in conflict. The other night i watched something about the miss treatment of taliban soldiers who surrendered, you couldnt tell the difference between them and the northan allience. The only time you can tell if there enemy is if they shoot at your first by which time its really too late.

the news is reporting the the Iraqi council have voted against letting the weapons inspectors in, the final decision is with Saddam....and he will not let them in claiming his country is united behing him.
I was thinking the other day exactly what Cronkilla points out. How can you tell the enemy in a situation like that. they could hide a whole army as civilians and then deploy them as your patroling what you believe to be a 'friendly' village. Surely there is intelligence that would point this out???????But war is a dirty game
