Now I might just be being a tad solid here so you are going to have to spell it out for me.
What exactly DO you want to do???
I've got as far as you want to try to be a Bootneck, possibly an officer, but now I'm afraid I'm a bit lost.
Are you still at school waiting to go to Uni, or are you at Uni??? How much have you actually researched into the different branches available to you??
If you are at Uni/school, why have you only got a year to lose the weight, are you thinking of ditching your education?? (Not a good move...I sometimes regret not having gone on to Uni before joining up, would've made life so much easier now)
Sorry for all the questions, but I feel that if we get some answers from you then the blokes on here might be able to give you advice relevant to your situation.
Theres plenty of lads here who haven't joined up yet and are finishing their courses at Uni/college first, and some who have been on their initial selection and so would be able to bring you up to speed on what is required fitness wise.
First of all, I think you have to have a long hard think and decide if to join any of HM forces is really for you. If it is, go and have a chat with each of the Careers Officers, you never know, you might decide that the Royal Marines isn't for you after all and find something that you would enjoy in another service. You could always at a later date apply for an All Arms Commando course.
Anyway mate,
