How long y'all been waiting
I am often told that how different it is now when it comes to signing up compared to the old dogs (no offence mutley
), but my application has now taken 6 months and I still haven't got my PRMC date and my next medical is on the 8th of August just wondering, how long have you all been waiting? I thought that with all the apparent recruitment probs I could have gotten in quicker, being physically fit, medically sound, not a plank, not thick, with a history in the armed forces and really really really wanting to be a Royal Marine

t@&tski says he thinks he would have
Methinks we have met before, did you come to Lympstone for a weeks holiday in the mid-eighties? I am sure you sound like the guy who stepped off the train and asked the DL
Oh, I nearly forgot (always end on a positive note) thank you for your concern regarding the thickness of my skin!

Of course in this era of PC (polically correct that is) the Corps probably have to be more careful what and how they communicate clearly. It sounds to me that they have put you on the bottom of the pile - the sort of pile that goes into an Elsan that is."ere, mate, have you got space invaders in there"
Oh, I nearly forgot (always end on a positive note) thank you for your concern regarding the thickness of my skin!

Mutley, I fear it is not only your skin that is thick...... I passed the medical, my family didn't, They are concerned about a family condition, familial hypercholesterolemia, aparently runs in ours like wooden legs, leads to heart disease and premature death in severe cases. I have a letter from the head consultant for Northern Healthcare Trusts saying I have not inherited the condition and have no more risk than your average Joe, but Bureaucracy being as it is, having not known about the condition the referral medical still has to go through. I think you may be right about one thing I reckon they were filed under "B" for bin, and only the fact that I pissed the careers officer off so much means I finally got my rail warrant and a date.
Sorry mate never been to Lympstone before they don't like the look of my beady eyes and my ears stick out a bit and the fact I'm scouse means they think I will rob the green lid.
The history in the armed forces, like the cholesterol, is my families so maybe I shouldn't mention that one again for fairness sake.

avis au lecteur absens haeres non erit asinus ad lyram
to gfski, tis true thou mayest not carry the heradity burden of hypercholesterolemia, but tis by thine own tongue that thoughst be condemned, for there canst be little doubt that thy true impairment be hypercritical, and inordinatley light of furrowed brow.
Beware that thoust does become not a sage as far as thy beard.

Cheers
Thanks mate,
I acted like a bit of a t@*t on another message board which is where the bad feeling, and name change, came from, but I apologised and hopefully there are no hard feelings. Thanks for the comments, it sometimes feels like I am trying really hard and not getting anywhere, my careers advisor probably still has nightmares about all the phone calls he got from me! It has given me a lot of time to train and test my resolve as to how much I want to be a Royal Marine, if there was any doubt I would have given up by now. I still want it as much as I did when I walked in the careers office which is as much as I wanted it when I was at school, I should not have listened to my teachers and gone to college and University, it did nothing other than prove what i wanted all along. I shall keep plugging away though, and hopefully if this medical in London goes ok I should get a PRMC date soon after.

gfski,
If you have "done" college and Uni, why are you only looking at recruit training? In for a penny and all that.
