You forgot the big pants debate, Hypes. My God, that one raged for, ooh, minutes......

Oh, and I guess some of the men would love to look at fab pics of half-dressed Italian footballers.

A new year can certainly throw up some surprises!

I do hope you concur with the sentiment expressed in my post, which follows your quote.

There's only pics of one half-dressed italian footballer!
Okay, so there's hundreds of pics, but it's still only one footballer!
Not to mention the pics of babies and cute fluffy animals.

It doesn't say "except the Ladies Heads". I have no strong feelings about it, but it does fly in the face of the above statements.

I was one of the originals in the Bunker and Retreat, but was never entirely happy with the concept. Elitism and a tiered system didn't really sit well with me. But I was happy to 'go with the flow', as long as it wasn't abused. Unfortunately the Oxford English Dictionary definition of 'nano-second' is: The time it takes from the point when someone is given power or privilege, to the point when he/she abuses it. So no sooner had The Retreat opened than the 'W***** o* t** W***' thread was started. I rarely posted in there and only ever nominated one person - myself.

Also the Retreat had a foot note declaring that it was a place to get 'away from the nobbers'! Implying that if you weren't a member, then you must be a nobber. Not great people skills.

You are correct about the 'daft' questions though, I can see why some people do a get a bit frustrated. But that is one of the reasons we have moderators; to guide new members through the early stages.

I think this has been mentioned before, but perhaps a FAQ section might help.

Or the mods get to-gether and come up with some stock/generic answers to the most frequently asked and daftest questions. Type them all down and store them, either in a word document or on the forums. When one of the questions is asked. The stock answer could be delivered without having to type it out in full (complete with an expanation on how to use the search button). It would certainly make a refreshing change to some of the sarcastic and sometimes malicious answers that are given by some members, often accompanied by a little yellow face rolling its eyes.

The reason I asked about the Ladies Heads was because it did seem a bit 'off' keeping it open after the closing of The Retreat and The Bunker. After all we are trying to bring things back to an even keel,so a level playing field for all is the way to go.
Hopefully these can open again when things get sorted, then you ladies won't have to worry your pretty little heads with 'mans talk'.
Also I can take advantage of being able to ask you Girlies a few fabric questions, can I wear crimplene and tweed together without commiting an outrageous fashion faux pas?.

I like it. I can see you're the type of guy whose glass is 'half full' rather than half empty!

I can see people's point of view re the Ladies but I do think you would all be shrieking for it to be re-opened by tomorrow! There is very little on there to entertain hairy-arsed blokes (apart from Shoulders) but it keeps us out of your faces while we natter.

Yup, if you want pics of fluffy kittens and babies (seriously,) pregnancy talk, wedding plans etc as part of the main board then I, for one, have no objections to Hypes putting the soft furnishings into storage. Shame, as we only just picked the curtains out.

It might be fun to see all your thoughts on Man Flu!

Shoulders, mixing fabric is de-rigeur this season. Vogue is full of crimplene / tweed combo ideas!

The Ladies' Heads has been a useful place for wives/girlfriends to come and cry in when their other half is away, where they know they can let off steam and get some support. I know they wouldn't want to do that on an open forum, but if enough people want the Heads closed then I will ask Beast to lock it until this is sorted. We'll just have to de-camp to our holiday location...

I think the Ladies heads should stay open. Just remember men, the last time you looked in your missus' hand bag, same situation... bigger handbag.

Obviously I would like to keep it open, but like I said, we do have somewhere else we can take it if I'm asked to shut it down.

Of course, then the ladies would still be making exactly the same posts, just on a completely different site, so the only difference would be that you guys wouldn't know about it.

I have no stong feelings about it, but again I refer to Admin's statement:
Trust is the key. No more hiding. No more backstabbing in a closed category. All forums for the time being will remain open with no closed categories.
Keep the Ladies' Heads open by all means, but ask Admin to edit the statement accordingly.

Your pedantry is second to none.
Were you my ex-wifes attorney?
None of the above should be taken as a compliment.

Good effort there Wholley!
First post in ages and you manage to be confrontational...it may have escaped your notice but if you take a look around you'll see that people have been making a concerted effort to get along and get the forum back on track!
You were never this confrontational as a member so maybe it's just since you became a Mod? If you're not enjoying the place and can't be bothered to join in the concerted effort then maybe you should reconsider your position until you're in a better frame of mind!
All you've done is fuel the fire that others are working together to put out!

Thanks and Happy New Year!
