SLR sling(s)

Post by macvsog »

I need help in locating an "Arctic SLR Sling". It can be either one, the Royal Marines or the Army's versions. Let me know if you have one and tell me the price you are asking.

By the way this is a very poor Yank at that.

You should be able to find one in the US.

Sir, back here they are harder to fine than Hen's teeth! I was/am hoping that somebody here has and extra one or two. I have searched all the gun sites for a few years now and haven't had one single hit.

I'm not trying to teach my Grandma to suck eggs here but the L1A1,SLR and FN-FAL are similar.Their sling swivels are in exactly the same place.
I believe the Canadians used the SLR long after the British dropped it for the stupid SA-80.
Maybe one of our northen cousins could help.

Have you looked at these three? One of them says it fits the L1A1 SLR.

One won't ship outside the UK, however the other two will.

Patrick & Wholley,

The Arctic slings are made up of two slings. I believe you have to drill a hole in the side of the buttstock inorder to put these things on. If somebody has a manual on the SLR, I could tell you where to find a picture of one in the manual? The slings you are showing I already have one, in fact two. One is for my Long Branch Mk4. No1. and the other is on my SLR.

I took a picture of both the Royal Marines version and the Army's version. Whic one of you can I send the picture to so you can post it? By the way, I hate trying to figure this out![/img]

You'd be hard pushed to find something like that over here as weapons like the SLR have never been legal to own, even the military haven't used them for over 20 years so the chances of finding any accessories for it on sale will be next to nil.

Ifen you mean a tactical sling then do not go drilling holes in the buttstock of an SLR.
The last one I bought wrapped AROUND the buttstock and was anchored in place with velcro. With a little 100mph tape it served me real well for at least six deer seasons and you could go from left-hand to right with a simple snap.
Wish I could remember where I got it

I've been out of service even longer -
(twice as long pluss a couple of years)

and I didn't have to drill a hole in my buttocks to enable the sling .....

Alfa,That was not text speak, but how many ignorant people expect us Birmingham residents to speak. We have, allegedly, the most disliked accent in the whole of the U.K. This is alleged, by people who know nothing about the many different dialects in this region. You can travel but two miles along the Soho Road, from Birmingham to the West Bromwich area, and you have two different accents,Although the City is the second largest ,it was originally made up of many small villages, each having their own dialect, and a lot of those former village areas still keep to their own.

Sorry about the Hi-Jack,Wholley. :D :D
