Does anyone know if these used to be some kind of war posters or
something? http://www.liangdianup.com/subpages/lighters_c.htm
Were these sayings on these lighters actually used in war times?

It's a Yank thing. Not British.
A can only assume that the lighters are Zippos and are being sold by some bod after a few easy $'s. Leave it in other words.
My Owd man was a Malayan Scout in the Early Fifties. When I joined the Corps he handed over a COMOY Brass lighter which was issued to him when he joined the unit.
He also gave me this little gem:

Tis a Rolls Razor. Weird bit of kit, it works but the noise precludes using it in the field as it's so bloody noisey.

I can't vouch for the accuracy, but posters bearing similar sayings and pics to these were prominent during WW2.
