It is with some trepidation that I write this post, having not been on the forum for some time.
I used the forum a lot gearing up for recruit training back in 2004/2005 before I suffered injury and subsequently discharge after a getting a very short way into training.
It took 18 months to get myself signed off by a physio to re-start training and this time around I opted for the reserves - this was something that was agreed with my wife as a compromise to full time versus giving up the ghost.
I have to admit it has been a great decision and provides a good balance, though of course there are frustrations associated with only getting limited training time - not to mention the requirements on your spare time and high levels of self-motivation required.
Really just a short note to say that despite the difficulties and set-backs, last week I passed my commando tests.
It's not how I envisaged my career with Royal would go but a bit of grit and a stubbourn streak have proved very useful in attaining the Green beret.
Thats all really, good to see the forum is as strong as ever.

Well done mate for recovering from your knee injury and having the balls to give it another go.... I'm sure the RM types on here will be giving you a hearty slap on the back as a congrats.....
(Of course .... if it was Royal ENGINEERS training I'd be even MORE impressed!)
Good luck with your career now you're 'in'.
