Paras New Barracks

Post by freer07 »

Is anyone else getting the new Barracks or just paras? bet the lads will like single man rooms better. Good to hear the facilities are improving though as it's well deserved.

I am not sure that single rooms are a good idea, if you are having a rough time for any reason where are your mates????. When we had the very large dormitory blocks with about 40 men to a room, every one knew every thing about every one else and if you were having a bad time then they would keep an eye on you, and take you out and get you rat arsed or even laid. Now stuck in a single room just who is going to do this or who is going to know your mood.

Good point tab i didn't think of that when i was in the new accomodation last year for an insight course. It's good that you have your own space but in certain situations as you say i think people could start shutting themselves off.

I think you will find that the single accommodation is for junior nco's other wise I think they would have said "OR's" accom.
Or maybe things have changed :) .

The rooms are good, only bad thing is the shower if you spend more than 20 secounds in it you are kicking water back into the drain on the perfectly level floor.

I was reading "Gunner" magazine whilst in a med centre the other day, and there was an advert for 7 Para RHA. It was a photo of a really nice room with a really nice bed space and a gucci stereo. All it simply said was something along the lines of

"in 7 Para RHA you will live in some of the best accomodation the army has to offer. With all that extra para pay, you can afford to buy a new stereo too!"

Then there was a number to call. Now that's what I call marketing! Imgine the shock Gnr Smith will have when he pitches up on P Coy looking forward to his comfy bed!
