ADSC Glencourse

Post by benny687 »

Afternoon all,

Anybody do their ADSC here? Was wondering what the 1.5 mile route is like? road, grass or track? uphill, downhill, flat? that sort of stuff.

Cheers,

Afternoon Benny.

I asked the very same question on another website this morning, and got quite a good reply, so I'll pass this on to you.

Its a wooded track beside the river. You run to a fence, round the fence and back where you came. Its a easy route. Most people improved on their times.

And a second PM

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en ... 9&t=h&z=15
Right. You see where the road B7026 instersects with the river? That is the start point. You start in an underpass. Then you start running in a North Westerly direction, across a small foot bridge and following the river. I cannot find the end point because the resolution is not good enough.

Hope it helps.

When are you up at Glencourse doing your ADSC?

Measured previous 1.5 route using mapmyrun.com. scored that time, spent a day being chuffed, then thought "nah, cant be right"
Re-measured with google earth, and found it was half a mile short! Never using that website again...

New time is 8.49 so not too shabby.

I see! My best time so far is 10.15 not too bad I suppose. I use RAC Route Planner, maybe I should try google earth as well and see if its the same.

When do you have your selection?

Cheers!

I had a similar problem, if not the same problem with mapmyrun and Google maps, but what really boggles me is that mapmyrun uses Google maps, so how the f* can my run be two different distances :o

Ran an embarrassing 1.5m in 12:00 minutes today :-? That said, it was 9:41 on Monday, so f* knows what's going on there.

5 days to go :)

Hey Ben,
Second Interview? I had only one and it was so informal. The Sgt. Major had seen me at the AFCO so many times and I think he'd gathered most of my information from the initial discussions. I received my ADSC letter three days later, at Pirbright, on 24th July 08.

Joining as a Health Care Assistant (QARANC). After the selection, I have to pass another interview by a panel of the QARANC nursing board. My second option is a Combat Gunner (Artillery logistics). You?

Cheers!

Yep, 2 interviews. Both asking more or less the same questions to be honest but the second one was with someone more senior at the AFCO. I'm going for paras, hence the running like a madman to keep my 1.5 time down!
Good luck with ADSC!

Derson, post all the details when you get back! :D

Cheers fellas. I'll post on Wednesday with as much info as possible.

S**ting myself about the run though; I've been doing some really poor run times over the past few days... I'm not sure what's going on :(

Itl just be nerves, and if you've been worried about it you might have over done it a bit? plenty of rest before u go and just go completely balls out when its run time. Youl be fine.

Good Luck
