Kit Question -- Goretex Jacket

Post by Slobo »

I've been seeing DPM goretex jackets popping up on places like eBay. These jackets are like the Soldier 95 but have velcro-flapped pockets chest pockets and a rank tab. The hood is concealed in the collar and not the older exposed wired hood. Other than the woodland DPM, they look like the desert DPM goretex that I believe is current issue.

Are these current issue Brit Kit? Knockoffs? Or some other military's?

Not a current link I'm afraid. But they're DPM pattern, 2-flap pockets on chest, rank tab in center, concealed hood.

sounds like what we were issued, 2 breast velcro pockets, a rank slide and quite a thick collar because of the hood being tooked into it.

ive still got the green 'water absorbant' shit that fails after about 3 minutes in drizzle!

seen the new stuff though with the velco pockets i know they do it in green, lads had it in norway and it is quite possible that they do a desert version.

We recently got issued some new stuff by the company Tantalus which is awesome. The water just runs off it like a PVC jacket but its breathable. Also when wet, they dont lose any colour.

Only downside is, they rip quite easily. Climbing over barbed wire fences on escape and evasion proved that one.

HALO Gortex is similar to that water absorbent one. I suppose you would need to treat it with some wax product to have any effect. This stuff is warm AS though, not need to any other warm kit on exercise when you have the halo gortex! 8)

im sure where down shit loads of kit you know!
no desert gortex, ponchos, drivers gear for the vikings, (cold weather kit - the bloke from DLO said we should get it), one of them under body armour shirts (that bloke said three) and its massive!!

im hoping we get a second issue out in theatre because at the minute were going to look like right tramps in half green half desert stuff!
