Join any Infantry Regiment and it is hard not pass out into a Regular Battalion, join the Para's or the Commandos then there is a very strong chance that you will never pass the course and join a Regular Unit

Bit unfair that Tab. Only about 1 in 10 who attempt to Join the Infantry actually get to there unit. Obviously it will be even harder for the Para's

Is it not just for Herrick 9 to make up numbers in the battle group?
As if only 3CDO brigade, with no attached perce were to go, we'd only have two units, 42 & 45 as 40 will be spearhead in this country after they fully return from Afghan??

If it is going to be a permant thing then its going to cost a lot of money, training several hundread? perce to be commando trained, then theres bringing it und brigade control....all sounds like a bit too much money for me, something the MOD does not like!?!?!

Bring yer own tea bags Davo

Remembering the first Paras were drawn from Army Cdos and they don`t do that many jumps these days(apart from those in Calif) maybe it`s time Para Reg sacked the airborne gig and tried the All Arms 8)
Then after an intensive period of De Percification, lasting at least five years, they could all join the Corps :P

"Harry, wake up darling, you were screaming in your sleep again dear"
"Cheers, Mrs Aitch, I was having a right effin nightmare :o "

Greenronnie,

Standards what standards ?
Thought they were distinctive flags.
Now the HSF in which I once served had plenty.
But as history buffs know the Queen's were a chummy
regiment with the Royal Corps. That is why they offered
me 13Pln. Farnham near to the Shot.

Drop them any lower and they`d fall off the plot mate 8)

I`m suggesting a way to a better life for you. A way forward on the one true path to Enlightenment, away from the Dark Side and you`re saying you couldn`t hack the All Arms

Chas, that last weekend you spent with the Grandkids is all coming together now mate  Chillin 8)

http://www.mod.uk/DefenceInternet/Defen ... arines.htm

There you go, that tells you more about 1 RIFLES and their "Commando" role.

It would seem that there are no plans for all of them to be Commando trained, but individuals will have the chance to do AACC

Just seen this post, been busy this weekend. So Para Reg have low standards now?? You been on the funny stuff again this weekend Harry?

As for couldn't hack the All Arms (CC?), we've all proven ourselves on P Coy and Depot, why the fark would we want to do AACC?? I'm sure there would be many volunteers to do it if it was available to the lads, but it isn't.

It's your guys that used to have to do P Coy (ie Pre Parachute Selection)to do thier wings until there wasn't enough passing! What relevance does AACC have to Para Regt when they've done thier own selection and training?

Greenronnie

Dated like me  All Arms Commando Course 4/92 Cpl.Hutcheon, Para participated and passed. I have no idea what the the situation is now. There have been a few failures at Pegasus Company from Perce who previously passed the All Arms Commando Course.
