Death by Country & Western.....'Achy Breaky Farts' etc

Post by sportbilly42 »

The US Army in I-raq has deployed a unique version of the Stryker armoured vehicle outfitted with an array of non-lethal technologies, according to the Jane's website.

A spokesman for the service's TACOM (tank-automotive) Life Cycle Management Command confirmed that three Full Spectrum Effects Platform (FSEP) vehicles were sent to Iraq in October. The new vehicles are operated by the 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division - a Stryker-based unit.

Fielding FSEP paves the way for future integration of non-lethal technology on combat vehicles. Among other things, FSEP is equipped with floodlights, laser dazzlers and a loudspeaker system. (be great at someone's birthday bash!) It is supposed to provide an alternative to lethal armament in 'escalation-of-force' scenarios around checkpoints and traffic control points. The spokesman said the FSEP would enable soldiers to accomplish their mission "without resorting to deadly force".

Now as the article in Janes is dated 18 Dec 07, hopefully this hasn't been brought up before (before SO19 sticks his oar in...)

The VC 'Hanoi Hannah' messages, or the japs 'Tokyo Rose', were subtle affairs trying to entrance the other side into throwing down their arms and running across to 'their side' where everything was just 'fine and dandy'. No doubt these days it's a far less subtle approach.

Billy Ray Cyrus and his 'Achy Breaky Heart' blasted out on a continuous loop at several 100 decibels for 2 or 3 hours should bring the country to it's knees instantly.

No doubt several hundred other C&W favs lining up to be contenders.. Hope there's no brit units nearby... the Strykers might receive some 'incoming'...
