I knew celebrity would come my way eventually - if only I was patient!
Surely "only if I was a patient" Rocky :P

H,

I love Winwick: the food is wonderful and the staff are very friendly - I just don't like the 'restraints' in that room where no-one can hear you SCrreaaa........ :-?

Anyway, John Gaunt had the programme on as an issue on Talk Sport today and the feedback was very good. He also had Ross Kemp on the phone for a few minutes and he made some great points. Hopefully, some good will come from the 'air time' he's getting for the troops. If he does - fantastic job!

On the other hand I am cynical to the core about 'celebrity culture' and celebrities. The programme is called 'Our Troops in Afghanistan' - right?

But if I hear that he's taking a one-off fee for the programme [and the same any follow-up series] and he's donating all royalties from future books, spin-offs, films, etc.. to Headley Court, SSAFA, Stoke Mandeville, etc... then I'll be the first to take my hat off to the guy.

Holger

I wonder if the Title is a misprint: I think Ross Kemp is a nom de plume and his real name is Seks Romp :-?

Kemp always seemed to be a self-advertising self-proclaimed hard nut wannabe with nothing more than a stocky frame, shaven head and a few 'Eastenders' style mumbled one-liners (combined with withering glare) to back it up. But give him his due ..he put his lid on the right way round at least.. more than can be said for some journos 'over there'...

Letting us into the secret that he'd wet himself is one thing.….. thankfully the bit where he said he drew mud was edited out.

Who'd have thought it. A true 'military' soap-star! Up till now we've only had Coronation Street's Jim McDonald ("I was a Royal Engineer....a technician!!") and Dirty Den (the least said about his military exploits the better)

Hope the crew assigned to look after him weren’t put in harms way just to make a better camera angle.

(And yes, I copied and pasted from one of my first postings on this site, but I don't think anyone read it so didn't want to waste it.... )

I really liek the show as you get to see the day to day life of an infantryman in the forces. Also fair play to Kemp for going out there, good to see someone doing it as its showing the public what things can really be like rather than having a glorified version in your mind.
