Thanks again for all of the replies and sorry for the long delay posting, I thought it would be best to do some more research into the forces I am interested in and instead of narrowing my choices down the list has grown!

To mention one the Light Dragoons seem fairly interesting. Can anybody tell me about life in the regiment? Do they see much combat either mounted or dismounted or is it much more a watching and waiting role? I would have thought that it is but I swear I remember reading from somebody who served that they see their share of action. I am also interested in 16 Air Assault and the Pathfinders but as always I am open to other suggestions to research.
Sneaky, all I am saying is that it would be more than nice if I had some quality food and comforts and a bit of time to myself to relax in the evenings (you can judge what I mean by that however you like!

). Not to mention I have been told that I have the rather bad habbit of shouting less than polite phrases in my sleep! I won't lie, yeah I do like my food, yeah I like my TV and Xbox, but yeah I want a career in the military. If it comes down to it then I'm pretty sure I can manage without my own room and that but don't go taking my food!

(I'm not a fat shite by the way, just a tad fussy!)
The thing is that I am interested in so many bloody things, each with their pros and cons, that I think my head is going to pop trying to choose which path to take and you hear so much that you don't know what to believe and what to disgard as absolute rubbish, but if you look around enough you will find shite on everybody I suppose. It's just without seeing it yourself your left a bit clueless.
These aren't my own opinions below, just examples of what I have read, I can't have my own opinion yet because I haven't even met any of the lads. It just seems that for every good thing I read there is something crappy to try to counter it. Like I read about the Rifles. Laid back attitude to Army life, everybody is equal etc. Great! Then I read from a Marine how they are totally unprofessional and shite, and they say they are 'elite' but at the end of the day aren't they standard infantry? Maybe he was mistaking their laid back attitudes to being unprofessional? I can't know. The RAF Regiment. Good training, good accommodation, good food, good variation and opportunities both skill gaining and promotion wise. Bad: only they seem to compare themselves to the Paras and Marines and even if they do have these skills they don't seem to ba able to use them half as much (as previously discussed).
Royal Marines are Commandos, Paratroopers are Shock Troops. At least thats what I have read. Reading about their roles the Commando role appeals to me more, but in todays world does it really make that much if any difference? Have the two at least recently not been performing very similar roles? I remember reading somewhere on this site that Marines get to travel a lot more due to their Naval roots but I doubt this is true is it?
I don't think I've ever been so confused in my life. I'm only 17 and this is the only thing I have ever wanted to do. I don't know whats bought all this on either, maybe I'm just on my period or something!
SportBilly, being honest I don't care too much about money at this point in my life. Sure, if it was being handed out I wouldn't say no but I would rather be doing something I enjoy, hence the reason I don't lke studying business at college that much. Maybe later in my life it will be more important to me but not now. What is important now is doing what I love. I briefly looked into the Royal Engineers and REME but it doesn't really seem to appeal to me. Regarding what I will do when my time in the forces does come to an end, well I'll think about that more when the time gets closer but I've never fancied doing anything like engineering or being an electrician anyway so I think I'd like to work in the police or as a military or security advisor or something like that.
I could really do with having a chat with somebody who is a part of these forces and has worked with the others mentioned before my head blows up! Apologies, I know this must read like a rant but that wasn't my intention at all, I'm just a bit lost at the moment. Thanks yet again, Mike.
