Learning to drive

When I was 17 I didn't want to learn how to drive and get my driving license, but for my 18th birthday my parents got me my provisional and are going to pay for lessons.
Now I wanted to start the application process in January, but what I'm stuck with now is the lessons and I'm not the type to not have now they've bought the provisional and are ready to fork out the money for the lessons and it's appreciated, so what I want to know, how long did it take members of this forum to learn how to drive and get their license?
Getting my license may be helpful too, especially when living away from home.

Jabbers, never confuse learning to drive with having lessons to pass the test. Because you have passed does not mean you can drive. You never stop learning. I was driving when I was fourteen and passed my car test after five lessons first attempt. I am still learning mate.

Mate im learning now and if your parents say theyll pay for your lessons youve got it made. They say its a couple of one hour lessons for each year of your age until youll be able to pass your driving test. Personally I think this is a bit high but it depends on how well you pick it up. If you go out driving with your parents aswell this would help as you would learn more quickly obviously. So good luck!

Im currently learning to drive at the minute mate, just done my 15th hour and very nearly done all the criteria needed before my test. I think there is a 21 hour minimum of driving that needs to be done before you can be put in for your test. So if your instructer thinks your ready after your 22nd lesson then you can put in for your test granted you already have passed the Theory. But some take alot more hours depending on how well you take to driving.

I had a mass EBAY sale. All I have left is my computer and TV.
cost me £180 for 10 lessons soooo expensive in my opinion.
