I am unfamiliar with the term ‘fugwits’ I humbly enquire as to whether you would be as kind as to provide a greater explanation to those of us that are not yet acquainted with your linguistic oddities.

Yoc, I suggest you take yourself elsewhere.
You appear to be intitutionalised into some form of conspiracy theory-led organisation, and unless you have experienced the situation in the Middle East for yourself, you aren't actually in a position to pass judgement on those of us who do. I work with Arabs every day, do you?

I'm an open-minded individual, as are most people on here. You however, don't appear to be.
I am happy to stand corrected if I'm wrong...
You can have peace.
Or you can have freedom.
Don't ever count on having both at once.

From the Imperial Storm Trooper, sounds good I might even use that title.
The reason I ask if you had ever served in the forces was that by your attitude to them you don't have a clue what they do or achieve. Still we do get get a one sided posts from some one that does not know any better.

You are mistaken Hyperlithe, I am “institutionalised” into no such organization, just because someone with the same name as me is a member of a certain group does not mean that I am. Please understand I have about 30 family members who carry the same last name as I do, many of them live in Yarmouth too.

Your investigation (i.e. quick Google search) is of no value.
Hyperlithe wrote:I work with Arabs every day, do you?
No, I have many friends of both Sunni and Shi’a denomination though. But I do fail to see how you working with Arabs is relevant. Care to tell us more about what work you do?

Please elaborate on why you feel I am not, in your estimation ‘open-minded’. I am receptive to new and different ideas and the opinions of others.

You must see how I fail to agree with you that those on these forums are open-minded, I have been extremely polite throughout my visit here and all I have received in return is attacks, allegations and abuse. All, may I add, unprovoked and unwarranted.

But, as you, I am happy to stand corrected also. Some posters though I feel have crossed the point of redemption in terms of them being able to be called open-minded.

I have many friends in the armed forces and my family has a long history or service so I am somewhat knowledgeable on the subject. But ultimately the British attacked Iraq, not because of WMDs or a supposed threat Iraq posed, but for oil. I don’t feel I need to have been in the services for me to be able to reach that most obvious of conclusions.

Can I ask though Tab, are we in agreement over the reasons for the attack and takeover of Iraq? (Oil, Big Business, Regional Hegemony, et cetera)

That's blatently untrue, I've been both friendly and welcoming to you.

I certainly haven't attacked or abused you in any way.

I'm feeling victimised now.

I apologise T_T, but you did make an accusation against me if you recall, however innocent they may have been. But not all have treated me with disrespect, I stand corrected, but I have certainly been subjected to unfair attacks from certain quarters.

Albeit you have family and friends who are or were in the Forces this can only give you at best another individuals perspective of service life. The only way to gain an "understanding" of service life is to serve! As for this governments reasons for participating in the current situation they have no bearing upon the majority of the serving members of this forum as soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines do not choose which conflicts they wish to attend!
If you intend to remain here for any period of time please bear in mind that many of us have lost friends and colleagues throughout this conflict and many others who have been hideously maimed.
Wether you agree with the current situation or not these servicemen and women will lay down their lifes in protection of yours whether deserved or not!

So are you denying that militarfourms.co.uk censored my post? Well here is a screen print for you clearly showing the censored post (seventh down).

So perhaps you would be inclined to take your own advice Stinky.
I am not a dumb*ss, you made a post saying nothing just for the title, print screened it and then deleted the post and waited for somebody (me) to say your wrong. That or it was very lucky you happened to print screen it before it got deleted .

The specifics are actually classified information, and the rest is not anything i would discuss with a civilian. Don't take that as an insult, it isn't.

Your post in response to a young man's legitimate request for information on joining the Royal Marines showed a distinct lack of open-mindedness on your part. So killing people in foreign countries is all they do is it?
Think on this for a while...
C.Province:
It is the soldier, not the reporter,
Who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet,
Who has given us the freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organizer,
Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, not the lawyer,
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the soldier,
Who salutes the flag,
Who serves under the flag,
And whose coffin is draped in the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag
You can have peace.
Or you can have freedom.
Don't ever count on having both at once.

I agree, I do not pretend to have the understanding of life in the services as those that have actually served. But I do not feel that that means I cannot comment on the matter.
Hostage_Negotiator wrote: As for this governments reasons for participating in the current situation they have no bearing upon the majority of the serving members of this forum as soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines do not choose which conflicts they wish to attend!
Well, that is not entirely true, at least that is what I am lead to believe. I was of the understanding that if a war is illegal, as the one in Iraq unquestionably is, those in the forces can conscientious object.
Hostage_Negotiator wrote: If you intend to remain here for any period of time please bear in mind that many of us have lost friends and colleagues throughout this conflict and many others who have been hideously maimed.
My heart goes out to all those needlessly lost and injured in Iraq and Afghanistan, especially those that didn’t choose to go to war, the innocent civilians, countless women and children who were caught up in another Anglo-American imperial crusade. My heart and thoughts are with all those affected by war.

My thoughts go out to the family members who have had to pay the greatest price of war, the loss of a child, and have now acted to end the illegal occupation in the hope that no other parents should ever have to go through such trauma. These are the real heroes in my eyes, the family members who have fought tooth and nail to end Blair and Bush’s Illegal escapade.

I would also lay down my life to save others and to fight for freedom and liberty. I would die fighting against the Royal Family and for a Republic and a more equal society, just point me to the nearest recruiter. But I wouldn’t die in some desert half way around the world so a few family dynasties and rich oligarchs can get even richer by looting another peoples oil, while in the process being responsible for what can be described as nothing less than war crimes.

I am sorry if my words offend anyone, I really I am, but I hope they reach someone who is thinking about joining the army or someone who is in the army. If I can convince even one person to quit or not to join I will be happy. This is where real good deeds come from, not fighting in some far away land for lies and oil, but spreading peace.
