New Web Site

Post by Chris1983 »

Looks like the Royal Marines have had an overhaul of their web site.

http://www.royalmarines.mod.uk/

Have a look at the video at the top of the page; 'IT'S A STATE OF MIND'.

Jabbers, what do you mean "almost" :o
Steve Irwin discovered a species of fresh-water turtle which is named after him. It is unique in nature for it`s ability to breath underwater via it`s rectum.
How usefull is that :P

Just watched the vid :(
Oh dear me
That`s even worse than 99.99% need not apply, when 99.99% believed the advert and didn`t bother applying. The Corps had a recruitment shortfall as a result of that one.
Pain is my best friend? :-? Fcuk off :P
Who approved that shite, it`s ridiculous.

So are you saying harry that stuff in the video is not true? Pfft, in that case it certainly doesn't make you almost want to join.

It's a nice site and they've obviously put some work into it (I like the little bloke demonstrating each weapon), it's just unfortunate that the Army ones aren't upto the same level.

Most of the site is very good and an improvement.
The link I posted, for instance, is a great idea.
My criticism is the Cinema Advert.
What the fork has some fat barst gobbing off in neat shite on a beach while some voice-over merchant tells us that pain is his best friend, got to do with the experiances of the Average Grav in a Cdo Unit?
It`s absolute bollocks.
If that is the best they can come up with, then best they find another line of work.
If the Corps paid for that, then Pusser was well seen off.

So, being nosy, [er, 'interested in current pay and conditions'] I clicked on the relevant link. For some reason I always ended up back where I started from.

Hardly the thing to convince young hopefuls to join. Unless, of course, it's all for Queen and country. Or Mr Brown.

Yeah some of the links are not set up correctly, for fun try and find the page for the merseyside RMR branch. I was trying to look at where I'ld head depending on where I went uni, took me a while :-? There are still quite a few, like the challenge on the front page they're advertising for fit physically and mental people, you click on a page and the more information link there is circular; always going to be problems to iron out at first though

I can't really understand why the cinema advert does not use footage from Afghanistan or even made up footage of a similar scenario instead of using the jungle. I think it would be a lot more relevant for the current situation and i know some of the footage i have shown my mates has pretty much made them want to join.
I did actually go for a part in that advert a few months back, pretty glad i didn't get it now! Something about being too essence... There was a free 10 day holiday in Brunei in it though.
Peter: Woah! Is that really the blood of Christ?
Priest: Yes.
Peter: Man, that guy must have been wasted 24 hours a day, huh?
