aup mate, erm the other lads will know better then me, but i asked that question at AFCO, and they said that it can be done, but its frowned upon, because of the pride you have for you're own regiment, so he told me to just get fit and go straight for paras, instead of another infantry regiment then transfer! dnt know if that has helped?? im sure the lads here can tell you more
P.S ive got my selection 2moz!!! starting to feel nervus as i went for a short run this mornin n twisted my ankle! any advice on a quick recovery? or just strap it up n bear with it??

Yes its possible to transfer to para regt.
The amount of training you will have to do is very much determined on your current situation, experience, rank etc. If you are a clerk for example i imagine you will have to do all 26 weeks of CIC (Para) up in catterick.
However, a corporal who has been in an infantry battalion with a load of tours under his belt will probably only have to do p-company without having to do any training. And yes, if you pass p-coy you will be straight to a para battalion and you will be loaded onto the next jumps course.
Just make sure you have a good set of reasons why you want to come to para regt and go and see your RCMO to start the ball rolling.
p.s. there can be ALOT of fcuking about with people leaving a unit. I.e. paperwork being supposedly "lost" etc...so just be aware of that.

Bfore 1953 it was the only way to get into the Paras, If your a soldier now it will be by way of all arms P Coy. All the best & good luck you will need it.jones999 wrote:hi lads im jonesy quite new to this site. erm, im in an infantry battalion at the moment but seriously thinking of transfering to the parachute regiment.

Re: transferring battalions
Im not so sure it is, I've seen various lads in Browning section who are transfering to the Parachute Regiment and join one of the regular platoons for P company and then go to battalion provided they dont need any other infantry training. All arms is just for Officers and members of other regiments wishing to join their Airborne unit. Maybe it changed since you last heard Parachick?parachick wrote: Bfore 1953 it was the only way to get into the Paras, If your a soldier now it will be by way of all arms P Coy.
