My thoughts and best wishes to all the guys in the fighting 45th! I hope they all arrive back home safe and well having done the Corps proud, as they no doubt will. Lets say a silent prayer for them, their families and their friends who will no doubt be sick with worry.
Good luck and keep yer hands on yer one percent!!!!! :D

One ship comes in another leaves, part of being part of the Navy and one of the most respected Fighting Forces in the World.
I wish all a safe passage and give them hell for all us who have to bring up the rear.

The families of 40 Commando Royal Marines would like to send their support and best wishes to everyone up in Arbroath. If there are any families living in our area who have husbands and partners serving with 45 then please get in touch with us at the families club so we can offer support and friendship at this difficult time. Once again Royal rises to the challenge. The comments in the press from Marines and family alike have been awesome! Though a desperately trying time, it seems that, as usual, The Corps is unflinching when it comes to doing it's duty. I am sure that the young men that serve our country today will perform to the same excellent standards as their forbears. The women I work with, upon seeing the phots of the guys in the papers, all remarked on how young the Marines looked. What they didn't see was the strength and determination that our lads possess!
Good Luck and safe return to you all.
Yours aye

Our pride will be for the honours you earn,

Our toasts will be for a job well done;

Our prayers will be for a safe return,

Our thoughts always for each, a mothers son.

God go with you.

I listened in disbelief this morning to 'Today' on Radio 4 as a female interviewer tried to get our Brigadeer to 'guess' how many of 45 Commando Group would be killed and how many wounded during the coming operations in Afghanistan. She tried all ways to squeeze some sort of figure out of him. However, he handled it really well, but didn't tell her to 'go and be intimate somewhere else' as I was hoping he would!. I wonder what planet you have to come from to think up a question like that. I guess she was hoping that at some future date she would be able to question him as to why his estimate was faulty! :roll:

It makes me realise that what I have said on other threads about the Falklands is totally true. To be anything in this world as a fighting force the only way to be remembered in the eyes of the press is to have massive casualties and win the day, not as Royal does it with professionalism, courage, guts, determination and by coming home alive.
the press have their uses but only sometimes...

Old men forget;yet all shall be forgot,But he'll remember,with advantages,what feats he did that day.
Then shall the names,familiar as household words-Harry the King,Bedford and Exeter,Warwick and Talbot,Salisbury and Gloucester,be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red.
This the story shall the good man teach his son,And Crispin Crispian shall ne'er go by,from this day to the ending of the world,but we in it shall be remembered,we few,we happy few,we band of brothers;For he to-day that sheds his blood with me shall be my brother,this day shall gentle his condition;And gentlemen in England now-a-bed shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,and hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speak that fought with us upon Saint Crispin's day.
Wishing four five all the best.
