Well one day we set him up, we had a chap who was an ABA boxing champion doing P Company so we got him to talk while the PTI was sounding off. Well as expected he was picked out and gloved up ready for the PTI to work him over. Well we stood there an watched the PTI get taken to bits, but to the the PTI credit he took the pasting nor did any one call time during the one and only round until the deed was done. Was it bullying on the part of the PTI or was that extra training you get for this sort of unit, just to see if you can take it as well as give it out.
What about the PTI that lets the joes punch him in the face with his hands behind his back and smiles at them as they are doing it, on the intro to milling lessons.
Things you feel like doing after being hit in the liver :
-Vomitting
-Suffocating
-Shitting yourself
-Passing out
-Crying for your mummy
-Stop taking part in any kind of violent sport.......

You have to watch death by power point presentations on The Values and Standards of the British Army (super six etc.) which covers codes of conduct, bullying and discrimination etc. And pass a test on it for MOD 1 Now.
Although its a bit 'pamphlet' it does actually make you think about codes of conduct, and showing moral courage in and out of uniform. This presentation also makes it abundantly clear what to do if you feel you're being bullied or victimised.
That said, if I can add my own 'smashed over the 'ead' story from recruit training about four years ago. Doing a field weekend, on stag, webbing on, helmet on, bergan packed back in the basha, my oppo, webbing on, no helmet, not on webbing, back at the basha with unpacked kit! Next thing I know, my mate is clunked hard over the head by one of the training corporals with his missing helmet! Obviously he should have been wearing it, and learned a valuable lesson about admin! That said it must have forkin' hurt! However he was only discriminated against for being lazy! Probably didnt forget to pack away his kit and turn up for stag correctly dressed again! Had a lump the size of an egg on his head!
The funny thing was having belted this lad, the corporal then said "tha wouldnt have happened if you'd been wearing it, would it?" in the same tone of voice you use with a younger brother you've just belted much harder than you'd thought! and are worried he'll tell on you!
These days our instuctors cant even beast us unless they're a PTI, which is ridiculous. Although dexterity exercises (pokey drill) seems to fill the void!

Me and a couple of others ended up doing 'Blindfolded Boxing' (With headovers) as Nods to amuse the PTI's rather than get a thrashing for being adrift, cnuts were in absolute stitches watching us leather each other with giant haymakers not knowing who we were hitting...Paratrooper01 wrote:Tab,
If the same recruit was orderd to "glove up" and get into the ring every PT session then i would concider that bullying.
Unbeknown to us they had slipped on gloves themsleves and were throwing a few of their own in, even now the sillyness of thinking you can avoid a thrashing from a PTI makes me smile

They did at least give us headguards so not all bad
